How tall is ron coleman?

I never thought I’d say this but he’s being dwarfed by Ben Weider and some other schmoe in that pic.

I’m pretty sure Coleman is 5’11".

You’re pretty sure, and 100% correct.

OK, what the heck is a thread on the Mr Olympia doing on the Strength Sports forum?
Sh*t!

If you’d ever watched Ronnie Coleman train you’d know why.

The guy is phenominal. Yes, freaky–but phenominal no less.

He did start as a powerlifter, but soon realized that as long as he wanted to lift heavy-ass weights, he might as well be a bodybuilder.

Video…funny as Hell.

Is it me or was the spotter on Gene’s right a little slow in seeing the severity of the situation?
But I guess it’s a tough call.
No, it’s not a tough call. It was just piss poor spotting. As soon as the bar started to drift out of the groove he’d missed the lift, and any competent spotter should have seen it.

You just don’t make a lift out of the groove when you’re relying so heavily on the shirt, especially with 1000+ lbs.

Did Ronnie add another 40 lbs of lean muscle tissue this year again? What is he now? 400lbs, 1.5 % bodyfat

Actually, he apparently weighed about 20lbs less than the year previous.

according to FLEX magazine, Ronnie is 275 pounds this year. and last year he was 296 pounds. so you’re right.
Actually, that’s 21 pounds

I saw a video of this fat guy going for a PR on the bench. He got the bar down fine (for a second), then all of a sudden he went from fat to very very thin. It was hilarious, then extremely disturbing, then hilarious, then disturbing, then hilarious (with a slight tinge of curiosity as to whether he was dead). It’s like the bar went right through him. The bastard committed seppuku on the bench press.

If you’re reffering to Gene Rychlak, he’s got the biggest bench in the world 1005 lbs and his Squat is also over 1000 lbs. If you don’t know anything about powerlifting I suggest you don’t post your ignorant comments, stick to watching the Olympia.
Gym lifts don’t count.
jacross wrote:
hell 200 pounds scares me at the moment ;-)
Damn, then you may need therapy having watched a 1015 attempt.

I don’t think these are gym lifts.

2004 IPA Nationals - 1005 Bench Press.

Gene is for sure one strong MOFO, just got pretty out of his groove on the Olympia attempt! Has anybody ever been to the Arnold Classic, I have heard that it is much more professionally done/entertaining for fans than the Olympia?

Out of curiousity, what changed you guys’ mind between this write-up
http://www.t-nation.com/readTopic.do?id=520324&pageNo=0
and this years write up? I thought you guys were anti-O.

Hmmmm, good point. What happened? Did Weider give you guys a discount on booth price?

Come on guys. Give them a break. Peoples opinions can change from year to year. Things are different. Plus, why complain when the T-Nation gives us such hardcore information (FOR FREE I MIGHT ADD) and produces some truly badass supplements (AT ROCK BOTTOM PRICES I MIGHT ADD).

Anyways, you two probably could play two professional sports if they wacked you in the head and called you fullcunt.

I agree. Why bite the hand that feeds such amazing hardcore supplements?

anyone know what TC’s numbers are??

I wonder what qualifies one to win an Olympia? Every single competitor of 20 was more aesthetic than Coleman.

I believe the illusion of size is more important than pure numbers. Thirty years ago, Frank Zane won the Olympia at a contest weight not much over a buck-eighty. But his conditioning and proportion was so fantastic, it didn’t matter.

Coleman… Coleman physically reminds me of the Satan character in South Park.

What qualifies someone to win the Olympia or any other Bodybuilding show is Muscle Size/Development, Conditioning, and Symmetry. Ronnie has insane musculature, extreme conditioning, and is symmetrical. A 30’’ waist would look ridiculous on his frame, look at how big his back, shoulders, and quads are in proportion. You can give the Illusion of having huge muscles all day but when you stand next to someone who really does you will lose!

I was with you up until the last line. SP Satan’s the textbook definition of a lightbulb (although, in his defense, he does have backwards legs and dainty little hooves), whereas one of Ronnie’s thighs is bigger than most fat guys’ waists.

Plus, do you really think Coleman would let Saddam treat him so badly?

Who really cares about any of these “professional” competitions. Take away the steroids and synthol and these guys wouldn’t be able to compete in a natural competition. Its to bad that these guys are have ruined this sport for real athletes who work hard and get all thier gains naturally. Look at the stomachs on these guys its pathetic.
