Thick is the wrong word for that level. It is also probably not the word that would come to mind upon seeing him in person.

Then you hear him speak, and “thick” is the ONLY adjective that comes to mind.
lol
I hope Heath walks away with this. He has earned it and looks the part.
If Jay brings his 09 conditioning or even last years conditioning it’s his again doesn’t even matter what Phil or Kai look like. Jay has promoted the sport more then any Mr Olympia i can think of save for Arnold. Guy has about 500,000 followers on Facebook alone. Not to mention he probably does more training videos, photo shoots, seminars, fitness expos and guest posing then any other pro out there right now or before him. Seems like in the off season he is hardly ever home and is always out promoting the sport. Doubt Weider is gonna wanna sweep that kind of positive publicity for the sport under the rug just because someone else looks a little better. Sad but true politics will prevail in Jays favor again.
Phil and Jay both have MT sponsorships so I don’t think the politics card works here.

Unreal seems fitting.
Seeing Jay next to someone like Derrick Farnsworth (in latest therapy session video), I feel truly shows the difference between one IFBB Pro (even if Derrick is a 202 guy, he’s an amazing competitor in his own right), and the very top echelon guys. Sure there are lot of ‘big’ guys, with large frames and big muscles in the Olympia top 10, but look at Jay and look at a guy like Wolf… as I said before, Jays is a thick physique.
S
Jay looks like a douche but from everything I’ve seen and heard from him he seems like a really cool, down-to-earth dude.
Hope he wins.

Yeah that and the fact he always looks angry lol.
No worries, the inside of the book is cool.
Glad my first thread didn’t turn into a clusterfuck X)

So does Dexter Jackson and almost every other top guy i don’t think being sponsored makes someone stand out. Kai won’t win because his extracurricular activities draw negative attention to an already taboo sport. I think if anyone is gonna win after Jay it will be either Phil or Evan if Jay can hold the fort another couple years for the latter.
Having said that i can’t recall Dexter Jackson getting much publicity when he was Mr Olympia or promoting the sport like Jay has. I just don’t think i have seen anyone get anywhere near as much press as Jay has these last few years, and he is VERY good at selling his all American clean cut image which is probably what Weider wants to sell more magazines and tubs of protein to the masses. In the end i think both Phil and Evan could take the reigns from him once he steps down or just cant hold it together anymore physique wise.

Ok, I see what you are saying. When you said Weider I thought you meant that he wouldn’t let athlete not sponsored by MT take the O. That’s usually the argument people put forth.
However, I really don’t think that politics or w/e you want to call it are really even relevant when you are one of the top guys. If they wanted to keep Kai down because of his past they sure as hell wouldn’t have given him the AC or allowed him to be one of the top 5 best BBers in the world. The amount of publicity he already has is enormous, I don’t believe becoming Mr. O would be that much of a step in terms of publicity and promoting he would be doing.
Bummer about Branch. Think Phil might edge it. Jay seems to have reverted to his classic chunky waist look.

Huh?
First. He never really ditched that look, as he cant. His hips are wide as a mailbox. His waist isn’t big for his bone structure. I’m not saying he has the ideal proportions of the best bodybuilder either.
Second. Those pics are 4 weeks out. A bodybuilder’s waist will shrink in a whole MONTH before a contest.
Jay looks better in those pics, in terms of symmetry and proportion than he has in the past 3 years. He’s a lock if he comes in conditioned. And there’s every reason to believe he will. Still using the same prep coach and he already looks like his skin is very tight/holding minimal water. No current contenders have a structure that can beat him. Evan does but he’s not competing.

X2
I can’t say I follow Mr. O all that much, but a local boy’s in the 202. Branden Ray works out at my gym, looks great (he’s nuts to look at off-season/bulking, amazing as he’s competing), and is a genuine nice guy.
And yeah, his deltoids are just crazy. That’s not the half of it though.
