eh, as much is i like Evan, he’s far from winning an olympia. he needs ton of work on his chest back and legs before he can hold his own against cutler/kai. he’s a good guy and in a few more years he’ll be there. but not now.
I love Phil, but as good as he always looks by himself, his structure will always work against him when standing next to freaks like Jay. I do agree that Phil has a better overall ‘look’ when we factor in shape and symmetry, but as far as this year, I think if Jay repeats his 09 condition, or even his '10 condition, it’s his.
Crazy that every time Branch injures himself it’s not in the gym. Just goes to show how much stress carrying around all that mass (even though it’s muscle) puts on his joints.

Doctors at Baylor Hospital in Texas diagnosed Branch Warrens leg injury as a torn quad tendon in his left leg. Warren will have surgery Monday morning. Doctors expect him to recover 100% and be able to return to the stage to defend the Arnold Classic title in March 2012.
“Branch is upbeat and relieved that he will be competing again in just seven months time,” said Muscular Development Editor in Chief Steve Blechman who spoke to Warren after the diagnosis. “Branch is a fighter,” said Blechman. “He will recover from this just like he recovered from his tricep injury. Its great news that he will be so soon after such a potentially devastating setback.”
Warren was in Atlanta for a guest posing appearance. He was in a parking lot and attempting to step into his car. The pavement was slick and his left foot slipped out from under him. He fell onto his left leg and heard/felt a “SNAP” from his left knee/quad area. He was immediately taken to an Atlanta hospital for testing.
He has been released from the hospital and wearing a wrap around his left knee/quad. He is now trying to catch the earliest flight he can back to Texas where he plans to go directly to Baylor hospital to meet with his team of doctors to conduct more tests to ascertain the extent of the injury.
Mr. Blechman says that Warren is “upbeat” about the injury and its potential ramifications. Blechman will personally be contacting Warren throughout the weekend for any more updates.

I agree. It will be BETTER.
I think Branch was one of the unknown elements. People just presume that Jay and Phil will be some order of 1st and 2nd. Of course then they concede that Kai not only has the size to match Jay, but doesn’t have the structural shortcomings that Heath does. They also realize that the reason Branch was 2nd (in '09?) was that when you adhere to the criteria that allowed for Jay to win, Branch was the next guy in line, despite how amazing Phil always looks.
With Wolf, we never really know until he steps onstage. Victor… hate to say it, but I don’t think most people even consider him when predicting the top 5 anymore. Some people may whine that it’s genetic that he doesn’t get as dry and shredded as other competitors, but at this level, genetics aren’t an excuse for appearance. That’s why Phil didn’t win already.
Shame that Branch will be out. Love or hate his physique, but the guys not only busts his ass, but you know he truly loves being up there, and that always gets me fired up as well.

I’m definitely pulling for Heath this year. I watched the whole contest on the live stream last year and thought Heath looked epic. Hopefully he can knock Cutler. I’m fine with either of those two taking the cake though.
