Bally’s has nice think ropes that you can’t use for anything because they will only let you use them to create a dumb wave motion to “Blast Your ARMS!!!” if you try to use the rope for chins or to tie to a heavy bag and pull, they get their panties in a bunch
I have to say the Decline Hammer Strength. I’ve tried to plead my case for the base gym to install another Power rack or monolift instead of having 1 power rack and 2 smith machines. Gym personnel state they don’t have room for an extra power rack and they won’t get rid of the extra smith machine.
Oh well, I’ll continue monopolizing the one power rack!

This thing. I have never seen it used for anything other than setting drinks/notebooks/towels on.
Holy shit after I watched the video link a few replies down I thought it was like some new age catapault/trebuchet from the Middle ages sort of thing. What happened to loading plates on a BB then doing normal squats? lol

Have never even seen that before…what is it, some kind of standing leg extension?

we had that for years, just threw it away a few months ago. Luckily no one has complained that’s it’s missing. We’ll just say it broke

Out of curiosity, how come you don’t like the decline bench machine? We only have one decline bench in the gym, so the machine comes in handy when it is being used.

We have a decline bench and a decline hammer strength. I’ve been at this base for 2 years and I have to vary my time attending due to my schedule. I’ve yet to see a single soul use the hammer strength decline.
Two, I’m being selfish. There are too many crossfitters in my gym trying to use the power rack to do their workouts. I’m not against cross fit, just the people who try to do cross fit but don’t know what their doing. They buy the latest rings and so forth, but can barely do 1 pullup. I realize you have to start somewhere, but I’m on a tight schedule and need to get in and get out. Don’t have time to wait 10 min for a person to set up and then 10 min for them to do their routine and I can’t even work in.

This was my second choice. As far as I know, it is only good for tripping over.

Why does everyone gotta be hatin on the Smith Machine? It’s actually a really great piece of equipment.

That’s odd for me to hear. When my gym is busy, that machine is always in use. I like using it as well. Unfortunately I usually have to wait for people to finish their sets before I use it.

Fixed.
You guys just have no clue how to use it properly.
It isn’t needed, but it sure is a gift to tricep and shoulder training for a whole bunch of people… And very useful when using exercise rotations…
No one calls the olympic barbell a useless piece of equipment, even though lots of people have truly ended up crippled from messing up on back squats, bench presses and whatnot.
It’s more often than not the people messing up, not the machines/exercises/equipment.
If squatting in the smith feels weird to you, then don’t do it. Doesn’t mean that the smith machine can’t be used for In-human Presses or wide-RGB’s or whatever else.
Some here just love to post the standard internet-article dogma bs every time some topic like this comes up (and I don’t really mean crooked crown by this, just a general observation…)
Edit: And of course there are a lot of different smith versions… Looks like the U.S. guys always get the crappy counter-weighted grandpa variant, well, not the smith’s fault.
