because they often come off as bible thumpers. least that’s my viewpoint . That and it’s cult like where it’s only crossfit and some believe there’s no use for machine based training. Just too many all or nothing mentalities.
Some very well respected trainers in the industry have commented on how many injuries they’ve seen from it as well and even testifying in court cases as an expert witness for such injuries.

Exactly.
Sure if you first go to their site you may think some of the workouts would be good for conditioning (there are a few I’d love to send back to myself at age 18 or so) but go to the forums (I used to post there a few years ago) and you do see a lot of sycophantic people.
There’s a workout called Fran that they seem to use as a measuring stick of fitness and you’ll see lots of threads on their site that go like this: Hi everyone! I have a buddy that’s 6’2, 240lbs, 8% bodyfat and he can bench 405 for 12 reps and squat 515 for 20 and he did a 10k run in 40 minutes last week and you can do your laundry on his stomach but guess what? I asked him to try Fran and he took over 16 minutes! Ha!
It even happened once when someone brought up Jerry Rice and someone else made some negative comment about how he’d likely not have a good Fran time and I had enough…I posted something about them being silly and left.
Oh, and for every female Crossfit member it seems like the only compliment that guys on that board can come up with is “She could definitely kick my ass!”
I’m searching for my Jerry Rice comment and fond this in another forum there:
I feel like since starting Crossfit I could kill a bear with my bare hands.
I’m not sure how serious this guy was but you do see lots of dumb shit there like people saying they’re getting smarter and needing fewer hours of sleep and all kinds of shit.
That would be my take on it. Basically they are irresponsible with implementing their training methods. often using skilled technique type exercises like olympic lifts for high reps to failure for example.

Never fails, Christine and HG exchange messages and they seem to be too stupid to shorten the quotes.

HA!, I thought I was the only one that got annoyed by having to scroll through long quotes. More of a forum/board issue than a poster issue[/quote]
I disagree. sometimes if i drop in on a thread that has been going on a long time, and two or three people are engaged is a pretty entertaining argument, i like seeing all the quotes, as it lets me get a sense of what the argument is about without having to read through the entire thread.
IME real life interactions with people from crossfit are a lot different than the stupidity found online. I’ve met a lot of great people from crossfit who’s worst offense is being a only a little bit over enthusiastic about crossfit and want me to do it too. And I can’t blame them for that because for most they have been shown they are far more capable then they ever thought, especially the women, which I can totally relate to.
