Right elbow (my “good” elbow) is really hurting. No problem during yesterday’s session or this morning. Started bothering me later in the day. Lifting didn’t seem to make it worse, but I bagged it on the curls and CGBs. Hurts bad enough that I took some ibuprofen, which I generally avoid.

1/5/10

Race to Salina: 236 miles to go (8 bike, 2 TM today)

Elbow still very sore in spite of overdosing with ibuprofen (and I almost never take ibuprofen anymore). I’ve “gone off the rails on a crazy train”. No more lifting at all until the pain is gone (without ibuprofen). Then I’ll start in with light complexes, and work back up to heavier weights. I’ll probably go back to some perversion of 5x5, maybe 4 days per week. In the meantime, I’ll hit the cardio like a good lil’ hamster. Probably won’t post much until I start lifting again.

I’ll (sniff) miss you guys.

come on now… you gotta keep posting.

i’ve been following your training. we need to get more vids for me to see.

i always have some damn nagging little injury so i feel your pain. right now it’s my right shoulder. i messed it up smacking one of my training partners at the Worlds. it hurts like hell in the bottom of my bench. you can actually see my right arm lag behind a bit on my heavy bench attempts. oh well… it’s always something.

you’re kicking my butt on the ride

do some single arm/leg stuff and just keep the stress off the elbow, be creative and keep your butt in action

I was gonna quote a bunch of studies from throwing sites about how you should never just quit lifting but just trust me, you should keep doing something. Besides, when has our little piece of the interverse here been only about lifting? I just talked about changing my nieces faucet on my thread. Besides, if you don’t post, I’ll have to put a can of spam in the window til you start back.

Thanks for the man-love, Meat! I was thinking I could train through this, but second day it hurt bad. Two ibuprofen didn’t make a dent. I figure that must be nature’s way of telling me to “Deload, you Dumbass!” I think it’s been close to 3 months since I’ve taken a real deload.

Once I get back to it, I’ll take some vids so you guys can all point and laugh.

Meat - any suggestions on a program? I did a sort of madcow deal for a while, then the Hepburn type program for the last 2-3 months.

Soldog - acutally the other elbow isn’t feeling too good either. Then I heard this little voice bellow, “Deload, you Dumbass!” At least the knees are feeling okay. I’ll probably be lifting light within a week (I hope).

Math, i agree. A deload is a spectacular idea, if you can rememebr how to do it.
Just stick with what you can do, to keep the body primed and work around the rest.

And don’t stop posting. A hate it when part of the family goes missing.

Math- work arounds, work arounds, brother! But I feel your pain. Good luck with whatever path you choose!

Elbow is feeling much better - haven’t taken any ibuprofen today. I managed to get up at 5:30 again this morning (3rd day in a row) to get some cardio in. Got to shovel snow for about an hour after that.

Race to Salina: Just passed the halfway point (I don’t remember the exact number).

Might try some skwats tonight.

Doesn’t shovelling snow count as cardio?
If not, I must have done it wrong. Which is very likely, since I don’t get much practice.

1/7/2010

Race to Salina: 223 to go.

19" box squat 45/5 95/5 135/5 155/5 175/5 195/5

pin 12 squat 225/5 245/5 265/5

That’s it! Left some in the tank. Elbow is a little sore just from picking up the weights to load the bar. Maybe I’ll just squat every 2-3 days for a while. Just have to see how it goes.

That’s the way to do it! keep doing something to keep your system in the game. (says the slug who slacked off for a month…)

I agree with SD, its good to work around that injury and keep plugging away. Nice work!
