pulling ahead and erect torso, what are you two up too??

nice work, how is this high volume working for you?

SD - Congrats on pulling ahead. I don’t really have a target on sets/reps. Right now I’m doing the ME sets according to the Hepburn article - targeting 8x2 gradually increasing to 8x3 on some of the money lifts. Then I try to do 2-3 other exercises for major body parts with 3-4 sets of 6 to 10 reps.

LS and KMC - I don’t really feel like I’m doing super high volume. It is more of a BB type of workout than most of the oldsters around here, but remember I’m not using as much weight as you guys either due to joint issues.

Nice work! Are you still on your diet? How is that going? Your lifting is looking strong.

Maybe not as much weight per rep. When you total the number of pounds moved during the workout though…it’s pretty flippin’ impressive.

Bike 3, Walk 2 Race to Salina 381.2 miles to go.

Sumo DL 95/8 135/8 165/5 195/5 215/5

Back Squat 160/7/7/7/7
SLDL 160/7/7/7/7

Frog Squat 160/7/7/7
Romanian DL 160/7/7/7
1 leg Calf Raise 50/8 70/8 80/6

Hack Squat 100/6/6/6
1 leg Calf Raise 80/6/6/6
Ab Roll 0/10/10/10

I switched to the Sumo DL, and backed off on the weight. The wider stance seems to put more stress on the lateral compartment in my bad knee, and bother it less.

I also backed off on the Hack Squat in order to make it more strict.

Missed the workout yesterday - had to work late.

Speaking of which, this site is now blocked at work. I used to catch up on you guys while I had a simulation running. Now I just stare at the wall. I guess that’s making me a more loyal and productive worker.

See, you need to swap jobs and become a Network Admin, like me. The site is blocked for us as well. Well, everyone except the 5 administrators  The web is our playground… It’s nice being the gatekeeper.

Math, doesn’t look like you like you missed a beat switching to Sumo.

JJ - the diet is sort of foundering. I’m not gaining much, but I’m sure not losing.

LS - I’m afraid I’m pretty much stuck with engineering. I like designing stuff. It’s a good feeling to bring something into existence. We are even pursuing patent protection on the system I’m working on now. OTOH, for some reason, it seems like engineers always get treated like shit. I still haven’t figured that one out. Maybe it’s because everyone is jealous of how cool we look with a bunch of pens in our pocket protectors. Yeah, I bet that’s it.

Chi - Thanks for stopping by. I tried sumo before, and it didn’t work out too well. This go-round seems a little better. Starting lighter, I can work out some of the details. If not, I’ll try to figure out the front squat (the Zerchers just f-ing hurt!). I might try the strap thing I read about on someone’s thread. There is also the sting ray thing http://www.straighttothebar.com/2006/10/holding_the_bar_in_the_front_s.html
(see part way down the page).

Math, what kind of engineer are you? For the record, I am, technically, a Network Engineer. We design, implement and maintain. And, yes, we get treated like crap as well. I attribute it to jealousy and fear. The are jealous because of all we know that they don’t…and that scares the hell out of them.

Oh yeah…and nice work!

My buddy was a mechanical engineer. He told me it took him 4 years of schooling to learn that F=MA and you can’t push on a rope.

We have 12 Engineers here, acoustic, mechanical, software, electrical…they are all scary people…way tooooo smart for me…I avoid them… talking with them might make me smarter and than I will realize how stupid I really am…
nice training…LS is right…you move some serious poundage!!

hack squat 100/7/6/6
Romanian DL 165/6/6/6
1 leg calf raise 80/6/6/6

Increased weight on the ME squat and reset back to 8x2 according to the Hepburn format.

Was heading out drinkin’, so kept it short and sweet.

I’m back from “drinkin’”, so that should 'splain any typos.

Strick - I’m a BS, MS EE, and have completed all of the course work for a second masters in mathematics hence the mathineer moniker. I’ve gravitated to power electronics, and more specifically, switchmode power electronics. I have designed up to 250KW systems. I have had a 250 KW system go seriously ballistic in front of me. That is an experience one does not soon forget! Fireworks!

OldGoat - stay away from those engineers. Your natural instincts are spot on!

Math, that’s cool. My brother works at a nuke plant. He has talked about having to go around and take readings at some of the multi KW something-anothers that are there. He says it’s an unsettling feeling to hear the electricity coursing through them. Especially when your job requires being so close.

Electrical Engineering and enough courses for a masters in Mathematics? That explains alot

Nice work…ALL THE WAY AROUND.

Missed the weight session yesterday (granddaughter’s birthday party).

Walk 1, bike 4 yesterday and today. Race to Salina: 356.2 to go.

Overhead press 95/6/6/6
EZ curl 75/6/6/6
Ab Roll 0/10/10/10

Incline BB press 140/6/6/6
Bent Row 150/7/7/7

We’ve had better weather here this weekend than you expect in September!

One of my closest friends in the world is an engineer in Missouri, though she is a Civ Enig. doing water treatment stuff.

Nice pressing math, keep it going…

That sure is a lot of sets. Nice work. Do you rest long between sets?

Walk 1, bike 2: Race to Salina 353.2 to go.

Sumo DL 95/10 135/8 165/5 195/5 215/5

Back squat 165/6/6/6/6

Hack squat 100/7/7/6
1 leg calf raise 80/7/7/7
Ab Roll 0/10/10/10

Eco - No rest between exercises in a superset, then about 45 seconds between supersets. I try to keep cranking 'til I’m done.

Thanks, Joe.

George, I’m Kevin. Or just mathineer. I’m not a fuzzy Kevin with a square mouth and sharp teeth, but a Kevin nonetheless.

sorry Kevin - I knew that but mis-read the “Thanks, Joe” as a sign off instead of thanking Joe.
