Why we have so many top athletes in almost every sport here in Croatia?
People world-wide should know that only 8% of Croats are involved in sports(most of those are recreational athletes) and athletic facilities and equipment are very very scarce!
But maybe because of our tough history full of wars we evolved to be somewhat stronger and tougher…
Percentage of Croats that can dunk a basketball at average height is greater than elsewhere in Europe(I played streetball in Spain,Germany,Italy,France…).
And about 10% of Croats is exteremely strong.
We are also one of the country with highest people.[/quote]
OK, now get a hold of yourself
If our fucked up history resulted in anything, it was our almost schizophrenic belief that we’re somehow “special”.
I gotta say, I never saw anything close to 10% of those “extremely strong” people in everyday life. I think that the percentage is more like 0.0001 %.
If you want to look at strong and big people, look at Icelanders. Also, people from other Scandinavian countries, the Boers in South Africa…
And that’s why by praising our virtues on T-Nation you sound slightly weird

Umm…you do realize that other countries could make similar lists?
I’m immensely proud about the achievements of our athletes (except Draganja, who was willing to sell his country for a measly 1 million from Qatar), but believing that we’re somehow “special” and “superior” is delusional.

Duje won medals for Croatia for many years and this country owes him,not the other way around!

Norway and Finland come to mind.
As far as Draganja is concerned, he’s a whiney asshole who extorted much more money from Croatia that his swimming counterparts get from their respective countries.
And he ended up looking like a complete tool when soon after his “fuck you all, I’m going to Qatar” stunt the Arabs backed out.

Croats dont play football.
When we start to play it—great winners in no time!

Samoans are strong people, but the Croats gave the world penciles, electric system, Nobel Prize Winners, greatest athletes in many sports and of course defended the Europe from the Turks for more then 300 years.

Come here and survive on 300 euros a month!
How much has he done in a sanctioned meet? Who sanctioned it and what gear was he wearing? I have only seen gym lifts on here with spotters helping on every lift. I am not saying the dude isn’t strong. He clearly is, but I would actually like to see what he has done in competition without the help of spotters before I venture to say he is one of the strongest drug-free lifters in the world.

240kg- bench press raw without any bench press shirts on a last competition in Ireland (a new -125kg new world drug free federation record)I did also 260kg but the judges said it was no good.
My plan before the competiton was to start with 270kg and end with 310, but when I broke my shirt on training It wasnt possible.
In 2007 I shall compete in the IPF European and World Bench press and my goal is first place. All I need is a good shirt and a sponsor to help with my expencies.
