Last Tuesday I had a soccer game. My right hip was feeling tight beforehand but I didn’t think too much of it. I played the game and pain developed, almost like it was kindof rubbing against the socket. It wasn’t severe pain and I wanted to play so I kept playing. I’m not sure if it was that night or the next morning but my hip pain disappeared and low back pain replaced it.
It has been bothering me ever since. It is not severe or anything but I do not feel comfortable bending over much or doing twisting or running. On Saturday the low back pain basically disappeared after pushmowing my large lawn…I was barely able to go halfway on ab rollouts on the previous days but able to do full ones fine that night. The pain then returned the next day. I don’t know what that means. The pain seems to be getting better but I want to make sure I completely recover, and as fast as possible.
I’m not sure whether to stretch it or exactly what to do. I definitely don’t want to make it any worse by doing something wrong, or jump into something when it’s not fully healed. Ideas would be greatly appreciated.
How is it now? Sounds to me like its a nerve that is geetting trapped from your brief story, if u get relief when bending forward for such a length of time like mowing ur lawn, does ur pain get worse wen u lean back while standing? If so then id be thinking this but obviously its very hard when i havent seen u!
MY advice is to start some core stability work, especially on a stability ball. Also take a quick look at ur hamstrings length and quads length and see are either on either leg tighter for you. Theres a test called the thomas s test that might be worth doing if u can get it on the internet and get somebody to see u doing it!
But as i said i have only read a few lines on you but my initial thoughts are those.
I’m now recognizing a feeling of strain in my oblique as well. And as far as leaning back while standing up, no that doesn’t cause me any pain. In fact it is leaning over that usually causes the pain though it often comes while getting out of a chair or moving a leg or something.
How about if you try to bring your knee to your chest?
I’ve had something similar to what you describe for many-many months now (I’m also a soccer player), and while it has healed, it still develops whenever I sprint or run for any long distance, but doesn’t affect squatting, deadlifts or any weight-training exercise as a matter of fact…
I’ve been to a doc’s and still waiting for my appointment with a national health service physio as I really can’t afford to pay for one at the moment.
I’ve discovered something. And whatever it is will definitely be a big clue as to what’s going on. This morning, getting out of bed, on my right side, a point in my lower back, more points in my leg and one even in my heel, begin to crack.
When I squat down and get back up, I have not a joint crack exactly but like muscle crack (like a quick shift in weight in positioning of tissue). I don’t know the word for it, but I’m sure we’ve all felt it. But only on the right side…pain’s on the right side and now this is all on the right side.
My guess is that there is some type of imbalance, what type I’m not sure. My mom suggested it might have to do with the sciatic nerve. Anyone know?
I could really use some advice for this…even if it is advice for another site to post it on that would specialize in this more. Would Cressey and Robertson be help in this?
Sounds like instability, cracking is a sign of instability, have u started core work yet? This will take time but make sure u start basic. Most ppl activate the transverse abdominus muscle incorrectly, start with getting that right. What about your hamstring lengths?
