Looking for a Good Facility in Charlottesville VA

I’m gonna be at UVA for grad school next fall and I just looked around 2 of their gyms. Memorial was closed, so I couldn’t get into their weightroom, and North Grounds Rec Center and the AFC had pretty crappy weight rooms, but most of all, they had signs that said “No “power weight training exercises” such as cleans and snatches”.

I don’t compete in O lifting, but I play rugby and uses them in my training. Mostly I just want a place with bumper plates, that allows chalk, and won’t bitch at me about occasionally dropping weights. A trap bar would be nice too.

If any body knows anything please let me know.

There’s a crossfit box on Meade ave. They have a website. ACAC might have what you need, that’s the commercial gym in town.

Of course, the rugby crowd would have good info.
The football team trains at Uhall I don’t know how open that facility is.

Sorry, they recently relocated to Belleview ave. Doesn’t matter cause C’ville is pretty small.

Does the crossfit gym allow open gym membership? One of the things I find most frustrating is that crossfit gyms have great equipment but you have to train on the crossfit program, which I’m not a fan of. Either way thanks for the info

A quick search shows Crossfit Solidarity as well. Both boxes show some open lift times.

I don’t live in C’ville anymore. Otherwise I could be more helpful. Good luck.

Call and ask!! Some do and some don’t. Best thing to do is call and ask if they would be willing to allow you to just come in and lift.

Check out ‘The Gym’. Allied Lane, Suite B. Mostly Westside Conjugate system.
