Littlelee Lifting And Sleeping Log

Put your shoes on - it’s the hardest part.

And, of course, that from a guy that hasn’t been in a few weeks.

HEYYYYY LL
Good to hear from you again  And to know you’re okay.
nevermind the workouts, when you’re ready you’re ready.

Yer good to hear you are ok. As said above put your shoes on and do something, even if it’s only a 10 min walk. Create the habit and it will come back quick. Good luck and we will be watching and supporting your epic come back.

Go get it littlelee! Smash some weights out

Welcome back!

Well Hello!
I came on to do a little lurking, and found it a strange coincidence that it has been a full year since I posted, (and to be honest worked out). I am ashamed of myself!
I have definitely been feeling awful, but forgot how encouraging and supportive this place was/is.
I am 130 lbs, my clothes don’t fit, and I lost my muscles. My diet is awful, my joints ache, and I will say not working out has had a negative impact on my mental health and self esteem.
But, I can complain or do something. I am scared to start over, but more scared not to do anything. So by the new year I would like to be back in the habit…starting today
Plan to see how you all are doing soon!

First Real Workout in Forever

All right, so drank my protein shake and headed off to the gym. When I walked in the smell brought back many memories, and despite some nervousness, propelled me to keep going.

The deadlift area changed. I was confused, but confident I could figure out this new set up. The new weights suck, they changed 10 lb weights to the size of the 45’s-that was my first wtf of the day. I felt challenged just getting these fuckers onto the bar, they were big and unwieldy.

Squats
1x10-bar
1x10-65 lbs
1x5-75 lbs
1x5-85 lbs1x5-95 lbs

My knees started off with “what do you think you’re doing? They were achy, and initially quite unco-operative-they warmed up to the idea at which point my glutes and hammies started piping up, they still haven’t calmed the f down.

Deads
1x10-135 lbs
1x5-155 lbs
1x5-165 lbs
1x3-185 lbs
1x1-195 lbs, 205 lbs

As in the old days, deadlifts provided me with that grrrrrrr moment, all of them went up easy and pretty. Pretty happy I could pull 205 lbs with how long its been since I stepped in the gym.

Good Mornings s/s w/ planks

1x10-bar
3x10-65 lbs

Planks-3x45 seconds

All right so short workout, but good. I was surprised I retained some strength (prob my extra weight helps) but my heart? Wow deconditioned much? I alternated between my heart beating out of my chest and the desire to vomit. I think even though I hate it, I will have to add some cardio in to improve my heart conditioning.

Overall, it felt great to be in the gym. I know I am gonna HURT tomorrow, but gotta start somewhere. Back on night shift, so might not be able to get back til Friday or Saturday-pray for me that I recover my then!!!

Thanks for dropping by. I don’t have a plan yet, but will start putting together something once I get back into the swing of things!

Good to see you back!

Glad to see you back. Sometimes it is hard to make that start after a long lay off. Just remember to take it slow and to do things that you will be able to commit to long term. If you are coming from nothing then something as simple as training 2 days a week for 30-40 mins should be achievable. Once this becomes second nature you can add a third day or a fourth day. Try to establish behaviors that become part of life rather than extra things. If you miss the odd session, dont sweat it, no one is perfect, jest focus on the next session and move forward. Good luck with it,

I’m in for your comeback! Don’t feel bad - I had to take a break too @littlelee (that’s why I started a new log). Sometimes life gets hectic and you have to stop for a bit. No worries. Gains come back fast the second time around

@ChickenLittle- Thank you! How have you been?

@simo74- very wise words…given my work schedule some weeks I can only make it 2 times a week and have to make a mind switch from an “all or nothing” to “ do it when you can”. Thanks for the encouragement! How are you??

@muskratlifts- Hey! Why did you take time off? I see you are back at it…so congrats on motivating yourself to get back into it!

OMG- I am sooooo sore today. Almost everything is going to be a challenge! Thankfully I am on night shift and will spend most of my day napping! Yes, the sleeping portion of this journal still applies  Trying to catch up on some journals. Hope you are all well!

Thanks! I had to take time off because I moved to a new city, got a new job and new apartment, etc. It was just a lot of stuff to do. But I’m glad to be back

I had to spend 3 months on my back. I think I have accumulated bonus sleep for 1 year.
My idea of sleeping in is like this morning; I was up 20 minutes late but went to bed a full hour late. I suck at sleep.

Heck of a deadlift for your first workout back!

Happy to see you back at it.

Hey LL good to have you back here.
Wondered where you’d gone.
As Simo said, take it easy, get back slow and build slow. When you’ve made training a habit again, never look back again.
And that was a bit of deadlift come back. Well done.

I am very well thanks LL. Training has been very consistent and i’m slowly getting stronger which is great. Work and family life are ticking along nicely. Kids are getting bigger which makes life both easier at times and also very stressful at other times. Work is very busy at the moment with the lead into Christmas being our peak time of year.

@muskratlifts -sounds like a lot of changes in your life! What’s your new job? Living on your own??

@donnerschweer -why were you on your back for so long? Are you ok now? I do believe some people need lots of sleep, others not so much!

@littlesleeper -thank you! I am happy with it!

@mortdk -thank you, glad to be back. I am feeliing positive and energized to get back into it, have not felt this way in a long time !!

@simo74 -glad everything is going well! Take care of those hips! My hubby has had a ton of issues lately and long term its gonna require surgery!

*****6 hour nap (after a 7 hour normal sleep last night) Ties PR! *******

Yep! Got out of college, got my own place (around 4 hours away from home), got a job, sat for the CFA Level II exam (and killed it btw), got an apartment, moved my stuff, and set up bank account and got credit cards. It was a lot of changes all at the same time.

Oh and my job is in data science for finance (so just looking at financial information and trying to make decisions with & draw conclusions from that information). I also just interviewed for another job yesterday tutoring math, and the interviewer told me I got the job. So currently trying to get a little side hustle going haha (just kidding I really just am doing it cause I love tutoring)
