@duketheslaya- glad to hear things might get superwell!
@ouroboro_s- thank you for stopping in, and I appreciate the advice! You are definitely a source of inspiration,
@BOTSLAYER- I looked over the programs and I liked the look of 5/3/1 + Pril, but fearful it has the expectation of more days in the gym then I can manage. I think I would like to stick to some variation of 5/3/1, I have had good success with it, and don’t want to complicate things too much!
Thanks. I am planning to finish out this cycle of 5/3/1 this week, and maybe for deload test my maxes since it has been awhile, and want to know where I am at for a starting base! I am also going to start training bench with the pause, as my pl friend says that it is a bit different in comp than just touch and go.
Well, that made me blush. Thank you, CL. That was super nice. I appreciate the shout out.
@littlelee, I’m not a competitive PLer, and not expert on peaking for a meet. That said, I’ve worked with a coach and it’s been really helpful to have someone really look at my form. Also, the advice was to practice cues, and don’t worry too much about cutting weight or even peaking for your first meet. Just go do it for practice, not thinking that you’re going to go rock it your first time. Then your next one, maybe worry more about thinking about weight classes or trying to peak strength. At least I think that’s good advice.
Oh, I just read your post from this morning. Looks like you’re not trying to cut while peaking strength. Good deal!
I think mainly you just want to try to have fun with it.
Puff
@anon71262119- thanks for the great advice! I am def doing it for fun, and I am just gonna worry about my lifts, and actually crossing something off my bucket list!! And no cutting gor me! I am doing much better, thank you for asking!
Bench
1x5-45, 55 lb warm up
1x5-60 lbs
1x3-65 lbs
1x5-70 lbs
Because these are paused I lowered the weights… I dont want to get strong using a form that is not a legal lift in a comp. paused bench is prob gonna be a slow improvement.
Dips-(unassisted)
3x8
BB rows
3x10-95 lbs
DB Flys
3x20-20 lbs
Push ups
3x20
Ok workout. Lots of doms from yesterday…rest day tomorrow because I am working nights (maybe a much needed nap pr) in the gym Thursday, and taking my kids to theme park Friday…
I am so disapointed and frustrated with how inconsistent I have been this summer.
So I took my girls to a theme park, had a great time, got home and a few days later got very sick. For about a week, I did nothing, called in sick to work, and rested and tried to get better, and during this time both my girls got sick too.
I think one of the hardest things about parenting is taking care of sick children when you yourself just want to curl up in a ball and be taken care of.
Anyhow, we are all feeling better. I am not 100%, but definitely better. If the trend continues, tomorrow will be my first day back to the gym. I don’t even know how truly weak I am gonna feel.
Not feeling very positive about powerlifting competition, but hopefully I can get back into some semblance of a routine and start improving my lifts.
Sorry to hear about that LL.
Good though you’re feeling better.
As JMaier said you’ll bounce right back into things. Strength doesn’t disappear in a few days.
No worries girl
Yer really sorry to hear you were sick. It really sucks when all the kids get sick and the inevitable happens and you get it too. It is only a week so it’s not like all your muscles up and left. You will bounce back real quick and with good food and lots of hydration even come back stronger. Looking forward to reading all the PRs over the next few weeks
When you’re the primary, who has your back? When you and your other are both sick, and the kid(s) is/are too, there is no back up and you just have to suck it up, and it does suck.
One time in Orlando my daughter got a stomach virus while my in laws were visiting - it was debilitating.
Then my wife got it. Then I got it. Then my in laws got it. We were all so sick we just took turns - whoever wasn’t puking dealt with my daughter puking.
Somehow, God has spared our household from this fate. Last year we had two rounds of stomach flu go through our house in about a 4-6 week window. On round one it took me down but spared my wife. On round two it spared me but it got her. It felt like God was nice enough to always keep one of us healthy so we could take care of everyone else.
It was also staggered enough that the first person sick was pretty much recovered by the time it got the third person (which was me and then my wife).
Yep, this is how it happened with us - wicked hard, wicked fast.
The point was, and I think you get this, when you’re sick, you still have kids that are dependent upon you, you just have to suck it up. There is no safety net, and that’s really hard.
Hey guys! Life is ok, busy and hectic and I have totally fallen off the workout wagon. I am embarrassed to say I have not been to the gym since the summer.
Honestly, there’s no excuse except laziness. I also started working full time…but lots of people do that and make it to the gym…so it’s not a good excuse.
I don’t know whats up, but I know I gotta get back. Maybe continuing with my log will help, who knows.
Hope you guys are all doing ok…
