Your deadlift/bench/squat is awesome, bench form isn’t atrocious but could use work of course. How long did it take to get you to a 705 pull? And what kind of training did you do to get there?[/quote]
I’ve been training for about 10 years and somewhere in the middle was lifting suited so my raw numbers took a hit, been training stricly powerlifting these last 4 since I got out of highschool and hit my first raw 700 last summer after being stuck at 675 for over a year, but I’d done more suited leading up to that point. the training I did ranged over the course of time so I can’t really give a good answer to that, I will say that I went from 605-650 with the coan phillipi routine and then used modified 5/3/1 and sheiko to get to where I am now.

thank you, there was a time where I let myself get up to 230 and hated it so I cut back down to 195 and felt much better. whenever I get to a new BW my body finds a balance and tends to stay within that range. Currently I wake up around 199-203 and go to bed 205-207 my weight mostly fluctuates depending on how much water and sodium I had the day before. But when I get close to a meet I like to tighten down that spread by being even more careful about my diet and adding a little bit of cardio into the mix
Phenomenal week Ben. Your ability to go to near maximal load on a weekly basis is making me rethink some of my training methods. Looking forward to your videos next week as you’re obviously in a great groove right now.

What kind of modifications to 5/3/1 did you do?

in all fairness I only go to what could be considered a maximal load every 4-6 weeks, I do push the volume envelope a bit and add in intensity with max rep sets but going over 85% is generally reserved for mock meets and the final week of each training cycle

changed the warm up sets around a bit, and flipped a lot of the volume and exercises around on different days and changed around the deloads… haha honestly the only thing I didn’t really change was probably the percentage of the top set and the fact that I made it a max rep

Bad choice of words on my part. Its the volume and frequency you lift in the 85-90% of max range that has me rethinking my training.
Awesome stiff leg dead and the increased shoulder work will definitely pay off in an bigger bench.
I’m 5’10" and Tom is a beast he’s quite a bit heavier now than he was in this video too I love his programming
Ben, just wanted to say thanks for posting your workouts and commentary. I really enjoy your learning through your lifts. Your dedication is impressive.
Ben- Good work at the meet, I know you were looking for better but real strong anyway. As far as apologizing for the last video, I watched it and you didn’t say anything you need to apologize for. The lift looked good to me but I’m no judge. Regardless you were frustrated and expressed it but didn’t disrespect anyone in the process. Keep up the good work.
