Surely you can understand the skepticism when someone is claiming they are stronger than a world record holder, no? You don’t think it’s reasonable to ask for video proof if someone claims they are stronger than one of the strongest men in the world (regardless of lift)?

We make fun of underdeveloped people claiming ridiculous lifts on this forum ALL the time! We shouldn’t automatically believe a posters lifts simply because they are well developed if the lifts being claimed are similarly outrageous.

FTR, I probably wouldn’t go video taping my lifts, either. Then again I’ll probably never incline press 495 pounds 15 times so I won’t get that type of skepticism, either. :)
Yeah, the difference is, he is like 5’8" or shorter and weighs damn near 300lbs. If he can’t at least do 405 easily, something is very fucking wrong. That is why this makes no sense.

Yes, hounding some 150lbs newb who claims they can squat 600lbs makes sense.

Hounding a 40 year old man who has muscles bigger than most here doesn’t unless you just have something to prove.

You also don’t know his condition when he did it either and I doubt he can go back in time for vids.

Yes, if this were the powerlifting forum, then critique his form, his gear and everything else.
Newb claims 300 pound bench press, we all laugh and flame. Developed guy claims 495 inclines for 15 reps, we all accept and move on.

Does that make sense? They seem equally dubious to me.

Like I said, I wouldn’t post videos, either, unless I was already planning to record them. But I don’t think anyone here should be surprised if most people don’t believe those claims.
I love the logic. You all use the fact that someone ELSE can’t do something (usually yourselves) as proof that it can’t be done. Good thing Roger Banister didn’t think that way. Or Einstein. Or the first guys on the moon. Or the slaves and abolitionists who believed black people shouldn’t be slaves. Or Tesla. Or Edison. Or…

Get my point? But X is right, THIS is why I STOPPED posting numbers when people asked questions. The whole thread gets derailed by a KID who hasn’t even been alive as long as I have lifted. I DON’T hide my face, my name or where I am from. Yet, I get challenged by nameless, faceless people on here all the time. This is the type of BS that made me lay off of here for a good 4 months or so after I first joined and is why a good number of the posters on here who actually have something to contribute stopped talking. It’s also why I was reluctant to put any numbers up. I am fucking DONE with assholes in a thread, where people are asking ME questions, who don’t even have the fucking balls to talk TO me. You run to X or some one else like he is your fucking father to try and get him to co-sign and do third party faggot shit. And then they tell you to shut the fuck up so you whine and bitch to each other because he isn’t listening to your bullshit, either. I am older than just about all you bastards on here and judging by the stupidity and shitty attitudes of MOST will still be alive and lifting long after you all have bitched up and turned into the women you really are.

If someone wants to ask a question or make a suggestion they think will help, I am all for an exchange of ideas, but if all you want to do is nitpick and bitch, start another thread and you can all feel free to have one big circle jerk and suck each other off in one big happy bitch-filled orgy.
Lol, was this directed at me? I directly quoted and wrote to YOU, X decided to jump in and write to me, so I responded…

I’ve never once stated you didn’t incline rep 495 x 15. Not ONCE. All I’ve wrote is that YOU SHOULD EXPECT PEOPLE TO DOUBT A CLAIM LIKE THAT! If the 4 minute mile were never broken and Roger Bannister logged in on a forum as (essentially) an anonymous guy with a runner’s body and claimed he had broken a 4 minute mile, you can damn well believe everyone on that forum would doubt those claims.

Jesus Christ, halfway through that rant I didn’t even know what the hell you were talking about…

I mean, for fuck’s sake, you all turn every fucking thread into shit like this. I mean, go look at that damned Paco thread…or the last bullshit tag team in that Arnold competition thread.

If I had to guess, I would think most serious lifters here are sick and tired of that childish bullshit.

Seems to me all of the most serious lifters are the ones most involved…and LOL @ “you all”. The main constant in any one of those arguments is YOU!

So, about your EDT-esque method, lew…?

4 minute mile =/= inclining 495 15 times.

LOL. Sorry. Basically it came about from me wanting to get in and out of the gym in under and hour. I had a specific set of exercises I wanted to hit and I would tell myself, “I am gonna bust my ass and get all this done in 45 minutes.”

Somewhere along the way I realized, I could squeeze in another exercise while resting from another one, so I would pair antagonistic exercises/muscles - chest/back, tris/bis, quads/hams, etc. My goal each time would be to improve by getting everything done at a faster pace or putting more weight on the bar.

What I also began to realize is that if I did TOO many exercises, recovery took longer and my performance would fall off drastically. Basically my performance would fall off as the week went along, then on Monday when I went back in after taking the weekend off, I would be ready to kill it again.

After reading info on EDT I tried the 15 and 20 minutes time zones Staley recommended, but I found that in order to do them I had to decrease the weight too drastically for my liking, so I upped my weight and shortened the time. I tend to keep my time zones between 8 and 10 minutes, as they allow me to still lift pretty heavily; yet let me get over and done before I end up too wasted to hit that bodypart again later in the week.

If you don’t believe him why not just keep it to yourself?

This thread was created to give us an insight on Lew’s training and nutrition as well as give praise. If you think he’s bullshitting stop participating in this thread.

Thank you. The same should go for everyone who seems to have such a huge problem with everything I write.

Just quit reading the damn thread if you have that much of a problem with it.

WTF happened in here, Damn. Sorry Lew. I dont know if has been asked but when I was lifting this morning I was thinking about this thread. Wanted to ask you how many days a week are you lifting. Plus love you man dont let the kids bug you someday their balls will drop and they will get laid.

lew just dropping in to say you’re a beast

Trying to get back into the swing of things since the last couple weeks have been crazy, but my goal is to lift at least 5 days and do conditioning at least 3 days, either at the end of a weight session or on days by themselves. But when I have been consistent, even on bad weeks I always managed to get in lifting at least 3 days a week.

3 days in the gym would be one hell of a bad week for me. I get pissed at myself if I have two days off in one week.

Either way, what do you do for cardio? I am adding it now (I hit a low of 275 last week but my strength is still up there).

If I had more time, I would walk, but I do kettlebells (swings/snatches) and jump rope. When it gets warmer I like to drag the sled and do hill “sprints” with sandbags.

How much does it cost to repair the damage to floors?

LOL. That’s why I live on the groundfloor.

And lift white women for reps?

Whatup, lew?

I think you once told me to ditch the flat bench and only stick to incline for pressing, or that you did this and it helped your shoulder. Am I right?

I may have said try it. I know that incline, for some reason feels much more natural to me than flat bench and felt easier on my shoulders even though (I believe) shoulders come more into play on the incline.

Hi Mr. Lew,

pls, could you be more specifical about your training (OF COURSE not mentioning poundages used or some shitheads will ask videoz LOL).
I mean

  • if you reach failure on each set or not
-do you use ramping or just warming up with a set at 50% of poundage of your working load and then a 70% before the first working set?
    -how much rest between sets
-do you do just compounds or also isolation works?

ah (off topic) which position did you play at american football?

thanx

Mike from Italy

I don’t reach failure. I have in the past but it takes too much out of me when I do.

I have ramped up on occasion, but I generally want to get warmed up and hit my working sets, so I will do a couple warm up sets. And they are roughly 50% of what I am going to top out at.

I do compound lift first and then isolate, but my primary goal is to get the compound lifts done. If I miss an isolation lift, it is easier to squeeze that in the next day or in another session than it is to squeeze in a compound lift.

In HS, I started off as a kicker and ended up being a linebacker and a fullback. In college I played lacrosse. A few years after I got out of college I played semi-pro football and I played fullback and linebacker and eventually played defensive tackle near the end.
