Did you read her post at all? Where she says she ENJOYS cardio? She didn’t say she was quitting her weight training, just asking when would be the best time to incorporate it into her training.
If you read this site or any others you will know that there are always differing opinions on anything. This isn’t about what AC says and living by his bible. I could post links saying how cardio is valuable. Or how about Professor X is now incorporating cardio into his training?
but that isn’t the issue, the issue is she just asked if there was a best time. That was it. But some folks are telling her not to do it at all. YOU pretty much insulting her for daring to do cardio as if she broke some law or kicked a puppy.

so… OP, do what cardio you enjoy.
opinions differ. yes.
you could post links how cardio is valuable. that would be redundant, as ac points out that raising your heart rate with other activities that aren’t on a treadmill is important.
I don’t live by any bible.
sure professorx is incorporating cardio into his training. comparing him with belle is like sweet potatos to twinkies. poor logic, on that one.
so, belle, yes. do your cardio if it makes you happy. i’d separate it from your weight training by 6 hours or on a different day altogether.

Many swear by fasted morning cardio. Go for a brisk walk in the morning before breakfast when your glycogen levels are lower. The theory is that with less glycogen the body transitions to burning fat.
Does it work?..I don’t know personally since I’ve never done it. But those doing the DC style of training use it to manage fat gain while they eat ungodly amounts of food and a number of guys in the bodybuilding section are using it to lean up as part of their regular training.
I’ve already stated my opinion on the matter, but for me personally, the weight didn’t start steadily dropping until I started moving more…I neglected cardio because steady state was useless and everyone should do intervals…I hate intervals, lol, so I didn’t do cardio…not until I stopped listening to that, and just doing what I like, which is walking…
I even wear my dorky pedometer to make sure Im getting my 10,000 steps a day…sometimes this means I have to go on an extra walk, but some days Im more active so that extra walk isn’t needed…Now that the pounds are dropping, Im lighter on my feet and me knees are loving me again, in the fall I will start incorporating some jogging intervals, because I want to build up my endurance…
I know this is said all the time, but you have to find what works for YOU!

Kicking puppies is also an excellent workout.

True, more cardio then weight training, well I guess depends on the puppy

there you go!!! you did it, you answered the question. =)
and no… comparing Professor X to Belle wasn’t poor logic as I wasn’t comparing them, just an example of a serious lifter who does cardio. Quite a few of them do.
now the serious question, … pancakes or waffles CBear. Depending on your answer we may have to meet out in front of the saloon at high noon. =)

I beg to differ. I consider it HIIT. This is particularly true when they’re tough to catch.

Different strokes for different folks.
We can all get our pretty thongs in knots over this, bottom line is you have to find what works for you.
Diet is still key, IMHO.
Diet really is the variable that can be manipulated to greatest effect. Diet is a huge topic, and you can really get mired in the details, but something that has worked well for me and many others is having a carb cutoff in the evening. Basically, no carbs after say 6pm. You can eat a snack before bed but it is almost entirely fat or protein…minimal carbs. Cottage cheese with a bit of full fat flavored yogourt (cause cottage cheese on its own is nasty) is a favorite of mine. But it could be cheese or nuts etc. Don’t be afraid of the fat…it is slowly digested, keeps insulin levels from peaking and keeps you from being hungry in the middle of the night.
The training piece is important but the old adage that you can’t outtrain a crappy diet is true.
And, thanks for the thong visual. Always appreciated
I like cardio. It wasn’t meant to spark such controversy. Since I am going to be doing it, I just wondered if there was a best time. Thanks to the PMs that gave me good info.
I will try to be more clear with any future questions seeing as how I wasn’t asking about my diet or asking about if I should do cardio.
To Skyel, skinny fat looks just fine to me. I can work with that. I have a ways to go, and I am getting there.

Good to know you got the info you needed.
Just don’t do cardio before your workout, and if you can do a heavy round of cardio after a leg day you may not be pushing yourself on your weights enough.
Keep up the good work Isabelle, you’ve lost 21-lbs that’s great
