I have read many posts from people insulting those of us who dont look like the majority on this site. Therefore, I am including the following disclaimer:
I am an obese SWF. 36yo, 5’4", 253lbs, and carry a 43" waist and a 50" chest. I do not pretend to be in shape and I am not going to ask if you can guess my BF%. Im not a glutton for punishment!! LOL I am well aware that it is 54%.
With that being said, I am an obese female trying to make a HUGE difference in my life. Im trying to lose the fat and gain a new lifestyle. I want to be someone Ive never been, but someone I’ve always dreamed of being!
I have recently started attending bodybuilding competitions because this is my passion and I will compete one day.
So…begins my journey to the best me I possibly can be!
You’ve come to the right place. Visit us chicks in the T-Vixen Sorority forum, and take a look at “The T-Vixen Articles” pinned at the top of that forum:
We don’t jump on people genuinely trying to improve, no matter what their starting point is. It’s just the jerks always fishing for compliments that tend to get blasted.
You can change into whatever you want to be. Pick a reasonable program, set realistic goals and change your behavior to attain those goals.
WOW!!! I cant believe someone actually responded to my thread!! How exciting!!!
Im so ready to make the most of my life, it’s just unreal to me! My entire outlook has changed just within a matter of days. Im gaining self respect…because I lost that so many years ago.
I cant wait to share my journey on this site!! It’s going to be a fun ride!!!
Always understand that inspiration will come and go, but determination always has to be there. It’s how you handle the days when your motivation sucks that determines whether you’ll make it. Stay focused.
I don’t want to bring you down, but I do want to make sure that you understand that this will be a long, hard journey. If you make it through, then the rewards will be worth it, but you have a lot of hard work up ahead.
Every journey begins with 1 step, and you’ve taken it. Now just keep taking 1 step more.
Whats your nutrition and exercise plan looking like so far?[/quote]
I plan to do the Body For Life Program. Three days of cardio, three days of weightlifting. Eating 5 small meals a day, equal portions of protein and carbs, adding veggies to 2 of those meals. Sunday being free day…but not going over board. I will probably have a free meal and that is it.
Over the past 2 years I have lost 70lbs, and unfortunately over the past 6 months picked up 20 of the pounds I lost.
Ive been in the gym 4 days this week, 2 days cardio, 2 days weightlifting, and tomorrow Im doing both cardio and weights so Im sure to get everything in this week.
Starting Monday I will be posting my food and my exercises. I also exercise in the morning!! It’s so invigorating!!!

Hi Ramo, thank you so much for your words. You are sooooo CORRECT!!! Ive started a journal to document my “emotions”. When the bad days come can re-read my enthusiasm and remind myself not to give up!!!
This site isn’t about picking on people for no reason. Even when people are getting flamed, it is generally when they are legitimately inviting it.
Anyhow, the key is that you recognized the issue and decided to do something about it. You’ve just identified yourself to probably the best support system on the planet…
So, take advantage of it, stick with this as long as it takes to succeed, and then share your success with us all. In the meantime, plenty of us here have also been quite overweight at one time or another, and have also made large changes in our lives.
Just keep the dedication and desire and you’ll keep going in the right direction… though it won’t always be easy.
to add to the superb comments already posted… This website will give you all the info you need to achieve your goals. Much respect for taking the steps to improve your life…as stated before the payoffs are tremendous, but it comes with a price.

I’m surprised you didn’t refer her to the beginner thread vroom… so I will. It’s a great thread.
I spent an awful lot of time reading when I first ventured upon this site. It will be your best friend and motivator.
Remember to set some small reachable goals along the way, they help with motivation.
Use more that just the scale for keeping track. It is a useful tool in moderation, say once a week. Measure and track your general fitness, like how long you can run for etc…
Photos. I know it hurts to see the pictures…trust me I KNOW, but they are sooooo helpful. It allows you to progressively see where you have been and how far you have come.
A food log (fitday.com it is free) it will help track general calorie intake as well as macro-nutrients, you can also make your log public for extra accountability if you choose. It is amazing how much you can underestimate your calorie intake…drinks count.
That is all I have right now and I am sure I will think of more. Welcome to the site, read read read and I wish you the best on your transformation.
Set small goals. Every jouney begins with one small step. So look forward to the next step, not to the end result.
Like others have said, it will be a long and hard journey.
Small steps would be to lose 5 pounds. Then 10 pounds. There will be times when you can’t seem to lose any weight. Focus on your training instead, go for a PR on benchpress, squats or deadlifts.
Read on this forum and on others. Knowledge is a tool in everything you do.
Just chiming in with my well wishes. You can never have too much support when you are trying to change. Best of luck and why not start a log to hold yourself accountable and get continued encouragement. The women on this site do it very well.
