So, I’ve been revisiting some of Matt Kroc’s training videos and now remember why I was such a fan of his. I love his approach to training and, even more so, his intensity. So, with all of the friendly competitions going on here right now, I thought I’d throw out the idea of a race of sorts for the Kroc Row. I honestly don’t know what the rules/guidelines/parameters should be, but maybe we could all come together to come up with some. I was thinking that it could be cool to give recognition to those with max weight used and max reps performed with separate categories for straps and without. I’m not sure of the time-frame though. Help me out here, guys.
So far:
-Most weight used with straps(at least 20 reps)
-Most reps performed with straps(weight should obviously still be challenging)
-Most weight used without straps(“)
-Most reps performed without straps(”)
-Most all-around bad-ass set
I’m not sure where I stand right now. I’m sure I’m on the lower end of the totem pole. I’ll be sure to hit Kroc Rows up this week. Also, if you guys think this sounds stupid, we can scrap the idea for something better. Either way, I’m adding them back into my program.
A few things:
Glad you stopped by, Push. I knew you were a fan of Kroc Rows and was hoping you would chime in. Impressive numbers.
Quick Ben, you have a strong looking back. Seems what you have been doing is working.
Lastly, I’m probably nowhere near as proficient at Kroc Rows as some of you. I’ll do what I can, though.
Thanks, guys. Just for kicks, here are the before’s from 3 or so years back when I found this place and one of the veterans decided to give me some guidance. Hormones and bodyfat levels way out of control here…

Amazing turnaround. Much respect.

Thanks Stu, I have enjoyed watching your progress over the last few years as well. For all the shenanigans that go on here, I really do owe these forums a lot

Are these even called kroc rows?
I use them a lot… along with deadlifts it’s pretty much all I did for back. I’m pale and unshaved and whatnot, but here’s a progress pic.
Excellent progress!! Well done.
I appreciate the compliments, but a lot of the credit goes to a guy who used to post here as tribunaldude, who’s been as great a mentor as anyone could ask for. I just wish I hadn’t waited until age 27 to pick up my first barbell. haha
Professor X and Cephalic_Carnage have also been huge influences.
Sorry about hijacking the thread, now back to your scheduled program…
Used to love them. Unfortunately my back hates the rotation now so they’re no longer in my routine.
From looking at my notebooks the best I ever did was 100lb db for 25 reps at 180lb bodyweight.
And yes, they’re definitely a full body exercise when done right.
