First I know this is not the ideal place to seek “medical” opinion and i will see my ortho soon but still…I’ve been through a partial lateral menisectomy on my right knee on august 29th 2007 and the knee is still painfull and there’s still some inflammation in there. 5 days after the surgery I’ve been hospitalized for a week with very limited movement due to pulmonary embolism.
I’ve been in bed for the whole 4 first days and they let me walk on the 5th day to go to the toilet but that’s about it. My question ; would that week in bed been favorable to the formation of scar tissues ?
yes. do what they say. I had 40 percent of my meniscus removed. after 4 months I was able to squat light weight. oh, and a pulmonary ebolism isn’t something to screw with. I had a little bit of pain up until I really started working out again. Now I’m fine. Just do what the doc says.
ive had three knee surgaries, have torn everything but acl. i dont know about your reaction but speaking of knees only. Looking back I would have seen alternative therapies first. I really dont think meniscus tears always require surgary. I would of looked into cartlidge re growth (usc). and acupuncture, and massage techniques clearing out the IT band.
Thats all besides the point just my rant.
Dont worry about scar tissue just yet. I would however find someone to come and give you acupuncture all over your leg to increase blood flow, and take additional chinese herbs to speed healing.
