did anyone else notice its just us here… no TRT hormone threads?
wooo!
Jack its not that clear cut
the city real estate is too crazy hard to compare with most US properties that are not say
San Francisco or DC - where the property is silly too.
our surrounding area’s say up to 35 miles outside of the city are well, plenty expensive
close to or over a million bucks. Shit one bedroom apartments in Brooklyn are a million dollars.
there are no two acre plots and the property and school taxes usually hit 10 grand
NJ CT long island and westchester have some of the steepest property and school taxes in the country.
and the town taxes are steep too.
to put it in persepctive our 387 apartment will go for over 1000$ a square foot
that is low right now we are in a shitty market to sell.
and that is as is- no work done other then a clean up and paint job.
Growing up here is great the city is super diverse in every manner.
we have a weekend place - full on country two acres, wild creatures, honey bees,
but its too far to commute from to be honest - the food is horrible
and lets say there is a lack of cultural diversity.
and work there is no industry or ambition for that matter
but that where we go to relax
as for work if we truly abandoned the city- we would need to do different stuff
for work.
I make television, the wife works in advertising two career paths that are in a bubble.
that all being said the city is actually inexpensive if you live modestly-
rents are crazy but owning if your not foolish is easier and more economical then renting.
property taxes are artificially low, school taxes low too.
Yes lots of things in the city cost more- except eating out.
restaurants are kind of forced to price control- within their tiers or they close.
As for living small- its fine My parents both grew up in apartments,
we lived in one as kids - its no different from having a big house.
as for a car- I just learned to drive at like 36 I never needed to before
