KMC's Blackirish Bastid Kicks Ass 2.0

NOT IN NYC ANYMORE? We’ve discussed some of my friends that are from your town. They live for it. My favorite email in the past few years was when one, not just a veteran but a founder of the nyhc scene sent me an email about relocating to Arizona. It was hilarious, and not by his intent.

Are you worried about feeling like you have had a limb severed?

thank people!

Eco he is sitting up- with some help
he is smiling like crazy , drooling, trying to make some sounds
and in the last few weeks he is using his hands more.
he can play with little toys, and grab people hair or jewelry,
the other day in the store he carried my dollar bill that was change.

Pete-

NYC is not the place I grew up anymore- its filled with big box stores,
and everyone is a trustfundian.
nothing is 24 hour anymore here , when it used to be the norm.

Honestly We just want to walk away from the stress of the apartment,
insurance, mortgage bullshit that and its 387 sq ft.

other ‘fears’

having to get in a car to do anything
I walk almost everywhere
food.

food I will miss the variety, ethinic food is hard to come by outside of the big city

I have some City friends who can’t fathom life outside the City. They work like 80 hours a week each to pay for the privilege of living there. But, let me tell ya, as an outside observer, I could not even fathom living there. 387 sq. feet? Are you kidding me? I bought my Texas house–that was 22 mi. from downtown Dallas, a great city with great food–brand spanking new, on over an acre with a creek, for 69 bucks a foot, and they threw in the lot, and I think the Master had more than 387 sq. feet. I am sure you can find some good places to eat outside of that insane asylum. Also, driving a car is an American tradition. You might as well drive one before the oil’s all gone. One of my favorite part’s of the day is getting in my car, rolling down the windows, and cranking up any damn thing I want on a kick-ass car stereo. Where else but your car are you gonna get some alone time with loud tunes when you got a kid in the house? No where, that’s where.

Run away and don’t look back! Run away I tell ya!

did anyone else notice its just us here… no TRT hormone threads?

wooo!

Jack its not that clear cut

the city real estate is too crazy hard to compare with most US properties that are not say
San Francisco or DC - where the property is silly too.

our surrounding area’s say up to 35 miles outside of the city are well, plenty expensive
close to or over a million bucks. Shit one bedroom apartments in Brooklyn are a million dollars.

there are no two acre plots and the property and school taxes usually hit 10 grand
NJ CT long island and westchester have some of the steepest property and school taxes in the country.
and the town taxes are steep too.

to put it in persepctive our 387 apartment will go for over 1000$ a square foot
that is low right now we are in a shitty market to sell.
and that is as is- no work done other then a clean up and paint job.

Growing up here is great the city is super diverse in every manner.
we have a weekend place - full on country two acres, wild creatures, honey bees,
but its too far to commute from to be honest - the food is horrible
and lets say there is a lack of cultural diversity.
and work there is no industry or ambition for that matter
but that where we go to relax

as for work if we truly abandoned the city- we would need to do different stuff
for work.
I make television, the wife works in advertising two career paths that are in a bubble.

that all being said the city is actually inexpensive if you live modestly-
rents are crazy but owning if your not foolish is easier and more economical then renting.
property taxes are artificially low, school taxes low too.

Yes lots of things in the city cost more- except eating out.
restaurants are kind of forced to price control- within their tiers or they close.

As for living small- its fine My parents both grew up in apartments,
we lived in one as kids - its no different from having a big house.

as for a car- I just learned to drive at like 36 I never needed to before

Wow. I wish you the best whatever you decide to do. Its funny, I had to teach a buddy and his wife how to drive when they moved to Texas for two years. I was a bit shocked that they had never driven before and they seemed a bit shocked when I told them that me and my buddies were driving to school when we were 14. NYC is a whole different world.

I gotta agree with jack, NYC seems to be a whole different world. Are you really being serious about the 387 sq feet thing though?

You’re still married after living in 387 sq ft together? And with a newborn? Wow. Serious props.

Are yawl allowed to move outta the city? Isn’t there some kinda code or somethin on that to protect the rest of us? Glad there’ll be a judo club where you’re going. If the neck gets all healed up you might get to start rollin around again. BTW, had to check, master bath + walk in closet = 305sf.

They finally started a T Replacement thread. Now we should go post logs there!!!

Yo people…

is it so unbelievable to live in a tiny ass apartment?
ksnap- your not the first to say that

Hel - we are not really allowed out of NYC
we are too ‘pushy’
and you bastard!!!

you forget how fast paced things are here, when you order a coffee out of town
and you leave before they make it cause it took to long.

not much training going on-
some body weight stuff-

handstand pushups 5x5
pistols 5x5

a bunch of ab shit

stroller pushing
14 lb weighted vest- walks and stairs

bw sqauts 250
pushups 150

Moving this Friday
having the place painted, gussied up on tuesday
new floor nailed in the kitchen the next week
and then checking with a realtor to see if this is a good time to
sell - or not

being this stressed- busy with new baby and watching my training go away for the most part
has made me realize how dedicated most if not all of you folks are here

Ive been reading more closely- and watching you people kick ass-
with all kinds of drama.
nice work.

It looks like you’ve got a lot of shit going on. Make sure you take a few minutes to stop, take things in, and enjoy being a new dad. You will get time to train when things settle down a little.

KM, I get the small apartment thing; did it a lot in Tokyo. But with 5 kids, it really doesn’t work now, at least not if any of us want to keep our sanity. I like small spaces better than huge houses, so I didn’t mind at all, especially since the city was so convenient.

And ditto Eco’s sage advice. Think of all the work you’re doing now as GPP (remember Mr. Miyagi in the Karate Kid while you’re painting: “wax on…wax off”).

Thanks Jack good point.
I think I need to train or I completey feel like shit-
and let stress overtake me.

that and I forget to eat.

thanks sfp…

Im going dark here for a few days
every body have a great weekend.

kmc

kmc, take care of yourself. It will somehow all work out.

How does anyone forget to eat? Not a concept I’m familiar with.

It’s so hard to be under stress and not be able to train, which serves as a stress reliever for so many of us.

Thats why I’m fat and you’re not.

You have room for a weight set?? Even if you had just a bar with some weights you could have some great workouts.

The fact that you can find time to do any training right now is pretty awesome. You just plain have too much going on.

Hold your breath and make it through the stress. Enjoy your son and train if and when you can. I’ll be checking up on you.

Wow. The only people who don’t drive around here are the ones who are afraid to. Some of them end up moving closer to Boston so it’s easier to get around.

Catching up with ya KMC. Hope it all works out. I’m not as lucky as Harry. I had to add 2 walk in closets, my master bedroom and my master bath to end up with 389 square feet…
