That sucks about your neck. I wish I had some solid advice for you, but I donāt. Good luck, I hope you find a solution.
Thanks people.
MJ its the cost of day care in NYC we saw things like 350 to 550 a week
at 525 a week thats 2150 a month- enough for a Prep HS or a year in college.
I freelance- selfemployed so it was a no brainer at least for now.
Oh, thanks for the details. Iāve discovered that most of the tme when I get hurts itās during training when Iām goofing around and donāt completely have me guard up. Funny how that works huh.
Have they ever told you to wear a brace or something while you sleep? That seems like it would work. But then what do I know?

Ho-lee Crap! I rent my house for less than that!
Yup NYC is expensive.
That is for day care- not many certified insured places ect take in small infants
3 months is the start.
Having someone come to your house is not cheap either
Nanny or Manny or what ever you call them ,want 15 to 20 dollars hourly cash.
with a 4 or 5 day a week commitment so something like 500-1000 a week
5 x 10 hour day x 20 it adds up quickly.
So its easier for me to pass on some work for a while til we figure out what our alternatives are.
pch2 I used a brace for a while.
one Dr. was talking about recovery post surgery and mentioned a Halo thats like an erector set thing,
and I got up and left.
Its not that bad but I prob need to get it worked on or fixed .
We have a friend in San Francisco who shares a nanny with another couple nearby, might be an option. The city is crazy expensive, good luck!
the good thing about living in the big empty space between the rockies and the sierra nevadas, is that we can just leave our kids in the back yard for a couple days. so long as they have some guns to play with, theyāre okay. this works from birth until about 20. 20 is when they figure out how the gate works. bad verbal development is the price we pay, but with the way kids talk now, who would know the difference?

Yep. My wife quit working (elem. teacher) when she was preggo with the first. We started a home daycare so she could stay home with the kid(s). NOT working was less expensive than the accrued cost of having a job and a kid. Figure that one out. (not to mention lower taxes)
We did that for about a year, then she started a business teaching music and movement toā infants to five year olds⦠Itās great because she was able to take the kids with her to āworkā with her.
Kid care really can/does break the bank. We had to be creative because weāre 500 miles from family.
Actually after talking with a coworker who does what I do, who just had a baby we are thinking of starting a daycare- or communal care cause there are three of us with brand new babies.
No closing yet, uber stressed- gee wonder if that has anything to do with my neck.
I think I might get to go to the gym on monday.

This.
We did a āco-opā preschool with our kids. Really, just a handful of mothers who met each other at the local library and became friends. They āhostedā a day at each of the houses and did an activity and all took turns. It gave the mothers a needed break and a chance to talk to other adults for a few minutes while the kids were busy. They also went on a lot of local outings together (museum, library, zoo, etc).
They are still dear friends and even though a few kids go to different nearby schools, they still get together for āplaydatesā.
Good luck!
you should prolly wait til Rowan is 6 or 7 months old before you start teaching him Judo. you can work his ground game until he can walk.
screw day care, you need Baby Judo. You can charge 3x as much as day care. I am a business genius. If I was in New York Iād do this myself!

I think the shared care option would be good if you can organise it. It sounds like things are crazy busy and stressful for you right now. I remember the first year of my oldest daughterās life as being very tough for me. It really knocked my life for a six. All the other new mommies would talk about it being the happiest times of their lives. I think we were all lying to each other. Iām not telling you this to be a negative nancy. Itās more so you try to connect with people on the same page and maybe have a similar life view. Maybe youāre better at it than I was ![]()
Iām going to suggest you get a Swedish Au Pair looking to study in the U.S. Okay it sounded better in my head.

About 19, well built, and with long blond hair. Isnāt that what you had in mind, Joe?
a live in au pair is exactly what I needā¦
as long as Joe is loaning me the couch in his garage it would work out fine.
for those of you following the mortgage housing saga
switching brokers, lets see what fun the next two months are
this is all that āaccountabilityā that banks need.
got in some track work this saturday.
2x 400m
5x100m
some broad jumps
some hurdles.
ugh.
I still think I can train tonight.
Good looking, track work.
I need to do some broad jumps my self. I just have too many things I want to do and not enough time to do them.
that track work left me for deadā¦
I should have said āsprintsā alternating with lay on floor
This was at a High school track across from a hotel we stayed at this weekend
6th anniversary drove down to check out some gardens and museums- good shit.
training.
yes actual fucking training.
5.24.10
lower
mobility, hops, skips jumps, foam and plenty of ankle and hip mobility
1200 leg swings , dislocates some other shit.
A OH squats 95x10,95x10,135 2x5
B deadlift 225x5, 315x5,315x3,405x3,405x3,425x3, 450 to knees fuck. 405x3
C v-squat power squat machine 2 plates x 15,4x15,5x15 then facing out āhack squatā 3plates 4x12
D pull down abs 3x10
notes
Oh squats 135 was too much for my shoulder and neck- they seem to be tied together, surprise surprise
pulling.
had some decent bar speed the 405 triples felt so good, I should have just done like 4 or 5 sets of those.
the 425 triple still had some decent speed, obviously the speed ran out at 450.
deficits, speed pulls, & RDLās or keystone Deads should fix that.
My gym bought a hammer strength V-squat machine- its like the baby one you can only load 5 plates per side.
lets see the machine is kind of uncomfortable- and bothers the shoulder girdle
facing in its too easy facing out its kind of hard- huge swole
I let the 2nd gym membership run out when we had the baby- so I am back to being rackless so this was a
nice supriseā¦
thanks for reading.
Now maybe with some endorphins I can behave.
most of those v or power squat machines have too short of arms, or you need to load hundos, which fewer and fewer gyms have these days.
great pump.
as for pulling I think I need to work on doing more off the floor,
make the main work be deficits and just to get some āheavyā volume in
do something like 405 for triples something like this
5*405/3
today and most days this and last week, GPP
of diapers,
bottles.
and 14 lb weighted vest
lots of weighted vest walks.
stroller pushes.
here are some pics of the little guy from this weekendās little vacation.
