Kick My Ass!!!

Hi, let me introduce myself, I am the posterboy for “Paralysis by Analysis” I’d like to say that it hasn’t stopped me from making any changes, indeed I’ve made great changes so far.

I’ve lost a ton of fat, learned how to eat, etc. etc. But my problem is this; I’ve gone from, as the great Dave Tate says, from “Shit” to “Suck”.

I’ve been stuck for months, and I’ve started backsliding into “Shit” and let me tell you it’s not a good feeling.

I am surrounded by the best training information available, and I just can’t find my groove. This may sound like bitching or whining, and it just might be. But it’s my reality, I never stick to anything, I’ll read about this or that and I’ll try it in the gym for a day or two, and start looking for the next thing even before I’ve walked out of the gym.

I’d like to think “At least I’m getting to the gym, I’m doing more than most people are doing” but that’s a cop-out. That’s not who I am.

So?

Kick my ass, that’s all I want.
I read the forums daily; I’m just going to skip the part where I ask for advice. I know the (serious) advice that would be given.

I want the flames, I want the insults!

What the hell?

What the hell? Stop rationalizing and thinking that, if you categorize your flaws, you somehow have a handle on them. “Analysis by Paralysis” isn’t an excuse for your behavior; it’s a behavior to AVOID.

What you’ve got is “Stagnation by Frustration.” You think that, because you aren’t seeing immediate tangible progress, you must be needing something else, so you switch without hesitation and make NO progress, like the donkey between two piles of hay.

What makes YOU think that YOU are an expert on working out and making progress? Pick a program–and be realistic: make it a beginner program, not the Superhero routine or anything–like ABBH or Total Body Training. Then write the whole thing out on paper–use a spreadsheet program if you can–and do NOT change what you do in the gym until you get through every week of the program.

This is a long-term project you’ve started; stop dicking around in the gym and do a PROGRAM, not just a workout.

(And if you really want flames, post a pic. I’M JOKING! No one wants to see your pics until you actually have something to show, which you won’t the way you’re going.)

Are the people who do this the guys who used to be labeled as completely unathletic nerds who don’t adapt to training? Why else would someone make the process of lifting 100 times more complicated than it has to be instead of “lifting heavy weights on a regular basis and eating more”. It has now become some effort where there are five thousand seperate routines to try. That’s just fucking stupid. Getting bigger has never required some advanced degree in nuclear physics are a team analysts just to force some idiot into a weight room on a regular basis.

It is like some of these guys try to replace hard work with “book knowledge” as if they can somehow build bigger muscles by being able to quote a personal trainer’s entire book on the subject.

In all reality, if someone is too stupid to figure out that what makes the difference is the ability to stick with this long term and give it everything you have in the kitchen as well as the gym, I wish they would stay home. There are too many of these types filling up gyms to begin with. Stay the fuck home and play Dungeons and Dragons or whatever it is people who microanalyze concepts to the point of stagnation do a nightly basis.

By the looks of it, it seems like you’re kicking your own ass exponentially worse than we ever could by not having realistic expectations of yourself and the conviction to set goals and follow through.

Why is it that you give up on a program 1 or 2 days after trying it? That’s like planting a seed and then coming back the next day to dig it out and plant a new one because the old one was “defective”. The problem is you. What exactly is your vacillation attributed to?

Amen! Quit bitching and put in some time. If you need someone to coddle you buy a Richard Simmons DVD.

A few good posts this week and a few ones like this that just waste space on my screen.

No kidding. There is a lot of time spent focusing on the minutia instead of the bigger picture of getting your ass in the gym/kitchen and moving some weight/eating some food.

Instead, you get, maybe if I ate 0.3 extra grams of carbs per serving my progress would skyrocket… help me optimize the shit out of everything in my life so I don’t actually have to lift.

If you make progress, I’ll send you a head of iceberg lettuce. Hows that for incentive?

Hmm. I’ve read trying to bench 200% of your max without a spot fixes this.

Have you seen todays strong words?

It is possible to store the mind with a million facts and still be entirely uneducated. – Alec Bourne

Heres a radical idea. Print out an easy to follow programme and diet from T-Nation (ideas anyone) and then turn your computer off. Thats right, turn it off and dont come back to this site or any other until you have stuck to your programme for 1 month.
No amount of information, insults or personal coaching can help you.

This is the only time I would tell anyone not to read T-Nation. But please, fuck off for your own good.

Dumb yourself down a little. Shut off your head, and let your body do its job. It knows and will respond a lot better than your head will.

It’s so simple you won’t belive it.

I hear big macs, whoppers, cheese fries, budlight and wacking off to gay p*rno make you huge!!!

why hasnt this been a Powerful Image? because this is what every newb needs to see upon entering the site.

Pick a program, commit to it for 8 weeks. No excuses. If you can’t do that much, just give up. You probably don’t even need a program. Just get in the gym four times a week and do the big lifts, then go home and feed yourself a lot.

It sounds to me like he has a fetish more than anything, pretty soon he’s going to ask people to piss on him… You are being a very, very naughty boy!

… either that or he’s 5 years old and needs a babysitter…

Good image - good Mantra… I’ve set it as my wallpaper for a while.
