Junk Food vs No Food

I’m here to defend junk food, because dirty foods can’t speak for themselves. If I’m honest though I probably hardly ever eat “junk food” if you define it as like bags of chips and cookies and stuff. I eat loads of fast food though, not sure if that counts. If given the choice between McDonald’s and “missing a meal” go get that McDonald’s every time I say!
What’s your preferred McD meal(s)?

Bud, it’s pretty weak that you haven’t posted on this site in over a year but decided to take a random pot-shot here.

Pretty easy to find. But if you post up a current physique picture for all to see and critique, I’ll give you the link.

On topic…

There’s no one right or wrong answer. It depends completely on the person’s goal and current condition. For fat loss, I’d vote to wait for diet-appropriate food. Odds are it won’t be all that long until you get something.

For muscle building/bulking/whatever, if you have a fast metabolism and have been struggling to add weight, get whatever whenever. If you’re already pudgy, tough it out and wait until you can get back on track.

Egg McMuffins are one of my favorite things in the universe.

I get practically everything on the menu though. Gotta keep your diet varied you know!

call it weak if you would like I read and try to learn off of t-mag daily but the real reason I haven’t posted in over a year (I thought it was longer) should jump out at you if you go and read where and what I’ve posted about and what’s different now on the site but that’s secondary.

Truth is as a long time reader (sorry if I don’t post enough) if you don’t think that reading Prof X’s post for years and seeing the videos were hilarious we just have different senses of humor. I don’t think it’s a pot shot at all just funny as can be. I will go even further and say he and everybody else there would’ve performed better than I at the altitude. But sorry Bud, they were hilarious

Pushing a prowler at altitude brought a big guy to his knees? There’s a fucking shocker. An empty prowler at sea level will ruin even small conditioned athletes who aren’t used to it.

You are correct… although it didn’t seem to do the same thing to the women pushing it with him.

On topic, is meal frequency really so important that people actually “must” eat junk food if they get caught without adequate decent food to stick to their chosen schedule? I mean, I’ve read that sumos only eat twice a day and no one can argue that they’re not getting adequate calories. Of course their body comp’s not what most of us are shooting for but it seems like they manage to keep surplus cals going in.

Who cares if people wanna eat McD’s or Peanut M & M’s a bag of donuts or whatever else, but I don’t understand the need to rationalize/justify it as something they have to do to keep their progress on track. We’re grownups, we can eat crap if we feel like it. We can also hang tight and go hungry for a few hours until we can “double down” on a solid meal if we want too. What’s the big deal?

Who cares whether or not as person chooses to eat “junk food”? If they are making progress I see no issue. I have never seen those who choose to eat junk food say it is the healthiest they just choose to enjoy. Personally, I hate all you bastards that can get away with eating “junk”, “dirty” food. Not because I gain fat easily but because, if I even look at dirty food I get zits. I would fucking LOVE to eat whatever I wanted unfortunately I can’t.

“You think that reading articles is the same as having a degree in a subject that is kinda-sorta related to this conversation.”
“Um, he actually has several degrees in subjects that just about specifically relate to this conversation.”
“APPEAL TO AUTHORITAH!!!”

What’s that logical fallacy where you can’t keep up with the discussion but post anyhow, again?

Brick is one of the better posters in this forum, btw.

Thanks anonym. I always liked you too. And as you can see, I’ve matured and repented for my silly, rude behavior in the past.

I just try my best and love talking about lifting and eating, but also understand that I don’t have much novel to offer, nor is there anything novel in nutrition and lifting at this point anyway, in my opinion. Hence why I even admitted that my degrees in nutrition and exercise phys and my dietetic internship–which focuses mostly on the life sciences, medical nutriton therapy, metabolism–just too much academics and clinical type stuff–offered me little knowledge in how to apply sports nutrition. I’m still in the process of learning about contest prep, which I know little about, because I want to do a show next summer. Hardly any bodybuilding nutritionists have degrees in nutrition but are getting people shredded to the bone. I can only think of a handful with related degrees: Berardi, Clay Hyght, Colette Nelson (an RD by the way), Chris Aceto–can’t think of any others.

I also wasn’t trying to brag (because of what I say above), but it seemed odd when he mentioned a biology degree and here we are talking about nutrition and I AM a nutritionist with nutrition degrees–degrees that have coursework in the life sciences: BIO being one of them, and other courses in biochem, microbio, general chem, organic chem, etc.

And anyway, people CAN design their own diets with the articles found on T-mag (Berardi and Hyght and Lowery are good people to start with) and the millions on the net. You don’t need a degree. What does Shelby have a degree in? Psychology, a degree he finished long after he started training and dieting. OK, I’m rambling. Peace!

LOL. Yeah, because we were all pushing the same weight.

I was pushing more weight than anyone I was with also. You have to love these guys.

And I’m very proud of you for pushing more alot more than them. It was just funny to me I don’t see what the big deal is. I’ve laughed harder at myself for stuff I’ve done. Why can’t it just be funny?

? You are using this instance to claim that anyone who isn’t laughing can’t laugh at themselves in certain situations?

I don’t understand. I was pushing more weight than anyone else there…so why would you compare my performance to the people pushing the lightest weight?

Serious question.

I laugh at myself in many daily situations. I am not sure what that has to do with this thread or that video.

That was my only post in the thread. I don’t have a horse in this race, I’d just rather see references and evidence than any talk about who is more “qualified” to speak on the matter.

Ya know, I realized that comment was a cheap shot you didn’t deserve after hitting submit… but since my posts take so long to show I figured I’d just suck it up and admit it was outta line. My bad.

I’d rather see ANY (intelligent) discussion than nothing but vague answers bolstered by credentials only tangentially related to the subject.

If that means certain points need to be supported by saying, “Authority ABC (CT, Meadows, Yates, whomever) tend to feel XYZ is the best approach”, that’s fine. If that means posting an article or training clip as evidence, that’s cool too.

I’m supposed to be ashamed of something? I got to go to Colorado…by myself…and sleep in a hotel for free and train with CT. I loved it. Naw, I’m not exactly ashamed of my “performance in HD”.

I am amused by this though.
Ashamed? No way. It was an awesome opportunity to learn from and train with a good coach. You were very lucky indeed, I wish I had the chance.

Best moment on video though was the part where CT sat you down and asked you to use your knowledge and experience to help people here on the boards rather than bashing everbody down.

I think we’re in agreement 100% on this, just wanted to make sure nobody thought I was taking sides.
