Is cheese a clean food? What about ceasar salad dressing? It seems they are not that bad sources of fat…???

ceasar dressing is about the best way to destroy any health benefit you could get from a salad. I stick with balsamic vinegar and olive oil.

If washed properly, yes.
See reply by previous poster.
The harder the cheese the better it is for you.
And what exactly is wrong with Caesar dressing? Fat is not the enemy we all know this. We even need some saturated fat for proper hormone function. A tablespoon of real Caesar dressing has a gram of saturated fat, 2 grams of monounsaturated fat, and 5 grams of polyunsaturated fat.
Store Bought Cesar is likely loaded with presertives and other stuff. Making your own Cesar dressing is easy and healthy. Smash a clove of garlic, peel it and squish it around in the bowl, add Olive Oil, a bit of dijon mustard, salt, and pepper. I don’t care for the anchovies so I leave them out, but if you like them, just add it with the garlic and make a “paste” out of it with your fork. If you’re cutting fat, leave out the parmesan as well (I do and it is still good). I use spinach for the salad but Romain is good also. Put it in the bowl and toss it with the dressing at the bottom.
I can’t see how there is an appreciable caloric difference between this and oil and vinagar.

ehhh depends on what kind you are getting. If you have ever made homemade or get a store brand thats similar it starts with a cup of mayonnaise. Not the best place to get your fats. Rarely do they use olive oil instead of mayo, but when they do they add in 3 egg yokes to keep it thick like the mayo version. Again not so great.

That is def. a better choice. I would agree that, that is a good version. Possibly high in the salt area though if you add in the anchovies.

Man, I saw this Martha Stuart once about artisinal cheeses(realy fruffy, you have to say it through your nose while looking at the ceiling) and you wouldn’t believe how they spent 15 minutes washing the freakin cheese!
Disclaimer: I was captivated by the absurdity of it. I couldn’t look away.

True…but how many people use one tablespoon on their salad. Not me! More like 5 or 6.
I consider cheese clean, but as far as needing saturated fat, i think it’s too easy to overdo it, especially among t-men.
I mean if i spent the whole day avoiding saturated fat and sodium i’d already be getting enough from foods i dont even consider that have saturated sources, but in reality have enough.

So, I should stop eating EZ Cheez right outta the can huh? DAMN IT!
What about Feta? I went to the cheese store in Beverly Hills and they said usually the goat cheeses are what they’d reccommend to a bodybuilder.

You might as well just spray it right in the toilet or eat it and it will end up there 10 seconds later!

It probably wasn’t your intention, but your post made me smile.
I don’t consider cheese a clean food.
It is high in saturated fat.
It builds up excess mucous in your nose.
Have you ever eaten pizza and then can’t sleep becuase you can’t breathe through your nose?
It makes your feet and farts stink if you eat too much of it.
Cheese is gross.
“It makes your feet and farts stink if you eat too much of it.”
As in, your feet and farts smelled good before you ate the cheese?
What about fat free american cheese slices? Surely those aren’t bad.
And mayonnaise has 2 grams of saturated fat, 6 of polyunsaturated, and 3 monounsaturated in a tablespoon. A regular egg has 2g of saturated fat, 1g of polyunsaturated fat, and 2g of monounsaturated fat. None of these things are the devil or bad for you if you’re not overdoing it or otherwise slathering the mayo on a turkey Ruben with a side of fries or pairing those eggs with a big white-flour bagel and cream cheese and homefries.

I hate you.
Cheese, like most things, is fine in moderation. If I’m on a cutting diet and my intake of sat fat is low along with everything else, then I tend to go either with lower fat cheeses or strongly flavored gourmet cheeses.
