Is Cheese a Clean Food?

And mayonnaise has 2 grams of saturated fat, 6 of polyunsaturated, and 3 monounsaturated in a tablespoon. A regular egg has 2g of saturated fat, 1g of polyunsaturated fat, and 2g of monounsaturated fat. None of these things are the devil or bad for you if you’re not overdoing it or otherwise slathering the mayo on a turkey Ruben with a side of fries or pairing those eggs with a big white-flour bagel and cream cheese and homefries.
Drizzled with a crisco aioli.

As in, your feet and farts smelled good before you ate the cheese?

What about fat free american cheese slices? Surely those aren’t bad.

Not bad?

Not good either.

It’s like sugar free chocolate… what’s the point?

I don’t consider cheese a clean food.

It is high in saturated fat.

It builds up excess mucous in your nose.
Have you ever eaten pizza and then can’t sleep becuase you can’t breathe through your nose?

Cheese is gross.
You’re out of your mind.

First somebody says they can’t stand watermelon, and now you’re blaming cheese for all life’s problems?

Give me a break, cheese is fucking awesome.

If cows didn’t exist providing me with milk and cheese, I’d probably have about 30 pounds less muscle on me at this point in my life.

I buy organic ranch dressing and it’s not loaded with HFCS,additives,or any preservatives.
It tastes pretty damn good too. They use real buttermilk.

Cheese from pastured cows vs. grain-fed has a better fat profile (omega-3 vs. omega-6).

Wow, I can’t believe all the crap on this thread.

Take the nutrient profile for your food or meal, make sure it meets your goals, if so, eat it. The concept of food being “clean” is relative to what you are purposely trying to eat.

If you aren’t purposely trying to eat various macronutrients and are just wondering what’s “good for you” then you need to be doing more research.

Cottage cheese is a great food to eat.

Neither have I. I’ve never heard of this.

As far as cheese, I agree with the poster that said if it fits in your macronutrient profile (if you’re cutting). As far as getting too much saturated fat… I disagree. Unless you’re drinking whole milk with every meal, I find it difficult to get enough saturated fat. I eat beef twice a day probably, but for my other ~5 meals, I need an alternative fat, and it’s usually peanut butter or olive oil.

5g of protein per slice. I use it when I eat turkey and always considered it a healthy addition to my diet

ehhh depends on what kind you are getting. If you have ever made homemade or get a store brand thats similar it starts with a cup of mayonnaise. Not the best place to get your fats. Rarely do they use olive oil instead of mayo, but when they do they add in 3 egg yokes to keep it thick like the mayo version. Again not so great.
“Creamy” caesar is bullshit. A real caesar dressing should not contain any mayo! Olive oil, egg, lemon juice, anchovy, garlic and seasonings. If you’re going to dress your salad it one of the better choices.

I’m a singer and I’ve read in a lot of sites about how bad dairy in general is for mucus buildup. True enough, I cut dairy and had no mucus at all (of course my voice sounded wayyyyy better. Mucus drips from your nose to your throat and irritates the vocal chords).

I’ve since then put dairy back in my diet. In the summertime mucus is rarely a problem. Cheese is great depending on your goal. I have started the Anabolic Diet today, and for the non carb, high fat days, some cheeses are perfect!

I’ll probably reduce dairy again this winter but till then, eat away!

I don’t even eat that shit; I simply stated how most of them are made! I’m Italian trust me I know what REAL Caesar is and to bring up another point, I don’t even know any Italians who eat that stuff (I’m sure they are out there but my family is from just North of Florence and I know we don’t nor any of my friends).

Hmm go figure Italians are skinnier than Americans are. All about the Mediterranean diet.

Cheese is a brilliant food, it contains high biological value protein, plenty of good fats and no carbs.

Since when has saturated fat become bad for us. It’s Trans fat you should be worrying about.
