dont be so ridiculous at “very doable drug free”

people on message boards make me laugh

in real life you need extremely good genetics to deadlift 700

id say a 500 DL is “very doable” for most average males after a few years of dedicated training

but adding each 100lbs above that becomes exponentially harder

in real life this is obvious but on the internet you just need to train harder/smarter/believe in yourself

i wish my gym was on the internet :(
look bro, this is how it is:

200lbs is small

700lbs deadlift is easily achievable

400lbs bench is the norm

you can’t ever get above 10% body fat

every chick you bang has to be a 9 AT LEAST

If you understood my post to mean a 700lb deadlift was easily achievable, I apologize, as that was not what I had intended to convey. Had it been, I would have used the word “easily”. It appeared to me the debate was simply on if it was achievable at all, of which I contend that it very much is (very doable).
na mate, I was just messing. Is 700lbs achievable? Absolutely. Will most people get anywhere near it? Absolutely not.

We’re in agreement, you and I. I don’t actually think I’ve seen a post of yours that I disagreed with.

I’m going to go ahead and say that 800 is out of the cards naturally, except for perhaps the very few extremely lucky individuals. You will know whether or not you are one of those. And if you have to ask, you’re not. cparker may be one of those. 700 after 3 years sounds like the kind of progress you’d have to make to have a chance at 800+.

cparker, I’m curious. How long did it take you to deadlift 405? How long till 495?

shadowbobo8028, why not aim for 800lbs, you may well fall short and hit 700lbs but at least you’ll have dared to try. I’m going to be joining you on this if it makes you feel better to have company, and I empathise with your statement of feeling like you’re not nearing you genetic limit yet. I strongly believe I can and will hit at least 700lbs, currently at 589, was at 473 a year ago and had only managed a triple on 330 about 8 months before that. I’m 22 so a few more years on you but about the same amount of time training and only the past year and a bit training ‘properly’
alright lets get to it then!

So I started lifting again at around 22 years old, i probably weighed 200lbs and im 6’1". I think after four months I pulled 405? Then probably 8-9 months later I pulled 495. I did my first meet ever in june 2013. I pulled 606 on my 2nd, and got called 2-1 for hitching on 623. So that was at about 2 years of training or so. I believe I’d be past 7 now had I not been injured so much but thats just powerlifting

well guys if it helps shed light on the situation, I’m only 19 with 3 years of training under my belt and already I can pull 525lbs. I’m pretty confident that with enough hard work, time, and knowledge I can pull 700

I don’t feel like I’m even close to my genetic potential yet. I see myself peaking somewhere around my late 20’s/early 30’s
Pretty damn strong for 19. Did you pull that in competition?

How did you get so much stronger in 6 months?

that was back in June 2014. I was 164 lbs and pulled 465lbs. I went for 525 but failed at my knees.
Today, 7 months later, I can do it successfully at 180lbs.

Ok…

Stormthebeach pulled like 815 and says he’s natty. I’m like the most sketpical person ever about this but I 99% believe him.

Mike Tuscherer also has pulled 800 in ipf meets. I assume most drug tested lifters are NOT drug free but again for some reason I believe him mostly.

not like FILT scum jesse norris

He’s natty, right?

Who’s got some tips to keep these young guys healthy and making progress throughout their twenties so they can hit their peaks at 30? How can they avoid the injuries, partying, girls and lay-offs and other bullshit that many of us may have run into?

You’re asking how you can avoid girls and partying?

Really?

Why do you have to avoid injury?

Oh sorry I just realized I didn’t answer the question. You see after the powerlifting meet in June, I started cutting for my 1st bodybuilding show and got super weak. After I competed in September, I started eating again and regained all my strength in 3 weeks. Then I did Madcow/Bill Star Intermediate 5x5 for 4 months

Exactly, everyone knows deadlift partys are the best kind of party

Are you not aware of how strong that is?

http://www.goheavy.net/records/viewrecordset.aspx?recordsetguid=4dddfdb9-46c5-401b-8d7d-13f80fce4046

The record at 198 is 706. And interestingly, it’s only 710 at 242.

It’s (maybe) very doable, for you. But clearly you are gifted. You are not part of that “vast majority” I was talking about.
242 is such a weird class. Seems like most of the good 242s cut down to 220 lol.

Looking at it purely from a numbers perspective.

If you’re pulling a 4xBW deadlift, you’d have to weigh 200lbs.
If you’re pulling 3.33x BW, you’d have to weigh 240lbs.

Assuming it is possible naturally, you’d need either pair of elite 1% leverages and fairly gifted genetics for muscle mass, or great leverages with genetics of the elite 1%. Body weight is valid for this discussion because the vast majority of humans are not going to get to 220+ as a natural unless they are adding a lot of fat on that weight.

BTW, Ed Coan “only” managed to pull 791 at 181.

With you here. I’ve been training since 14 and seriously since maybe 16, and am only 19 now. I’ve pulled 545, squatted 475 in wraps, and benched 135x0.5 (not srs but my bench blows). This is weighing various weights from 198-220.

When people on here are like average males a big achievement is 500 pulls I laugh a little on the inside because when I pulled 500 the first time I knew jack shit about nutrition and my recovery was crap.

I don’t think that setting ridiculously outlandish goals like this is a productive or worthwhile exercise. You just pulled 525, and you’re thinking about 800 now? How does that number even enter your mind at this stage of your development?
