All right - thank you all those who had suggested the chalk- (Alicia you come to mind but I know there were others). My grip was really crazy! I had to give my hands a couple seconds after the heavy lifts to uncurl, had a bit of the “claw syndrome”

I always cheer a great PR! sometimes to shy to say anything…
Nice!! It feels so good to get those 4 plates off the ground. Way to go N!
Soldog your attitude has always been fine with the ladies. Your welcomed to drop by and chat away any time.
Kimba & Blue: it feels fantastic! Ok, I know it wasn’t pretty. felt very slow lifing off the floor but I kept form tight and my back is fine this morning. I’ll keep practicing until I can handle it better and film it in a couple of weeks.
cliff notes: barefeet and chalk is tha bomb for deads.
ROCK ON DUDE! ![]()
That’s OUTSTANDING! soon 225 will feel like 135…
bare feet and chalk ftw!! CONGRATS!!!
i was told that if a pull is slow coming off the floor its a sign of weak hips (maybe in relation to everything else), but i know that what feels slow coming off the floor can look FAST in a video. so keep that in mind.
and, im sad to hear you havent ever been excited about powdered white stuff. apparently you never partied like the 80’s. ![]()
congrats on the dl pr baby!!! woo hoo!!!

Ha!!

LOL!!!
Good job on the DL PR…now, I need to order chalk. My boss at the gym HATES chalk because it makes a mess.
Sky: I can’t remember who - Shauna, I think? suggested I carried it in a baggie and powdered my hands over a garbage to keep the damage to a minimum. If your respectful and tactful it shouldn’t be an issue. I even whiped down my bar after so no one could complain.
Thanks for the kudos MIM, Cbear and Deja. And no crazy 80’s for me, as a grunge child of the 90’s I was in contact with substances including LSD, speed, mushrooms and such but the favored brew was hasch. Powdered white stuff wasn’t our gig and if memory serves me right we probably couldn’t afford it either. As a self proclaimed geek I will add that I never really rolled with that scene - I hated not being in control of myself. You really need to be able to let it all go or the trip usually turns sour.
Now back to training:
Just to share my excuses, today was sucky because
A- I spent the weekend helping family move hence I am tired and unrested
B- did some killer deads yesterday motivated by my new friend Mr. Chalk.
C- Got a nice surprise visit from bloody Ozzie this morning.
D-long day at work running around
Made it to the gym but yawned between each rep.
30 minutes of practicing clean and presses using 50lbs and 70lbs pre-loaded bars with a lot of pussying around between reps
30 minutes of treadmill.
I went, I moved around. that’s good enough for me today. I can conquor Rome tommorow.
Cheers
N
Some days, its all about the showing up. Your next training will be killer!
You got that deadlift PR just prior to a surprise visit? I bet you can break that PR no problem at a more optimal time in your cycle!
Mushrooms are fun (most of the time)!
I have my own block of chalk. It’s about 20 years old and lives in an old ice cream tub. Fortunately my gym doesn’t seem to mind.
Wed: 40 mins jog with 5 minutes of hill sprints to enjoy a bit of sunshine.
Tonight:
bench
95lbs 1x8
115lbs 1x6
135lbs 1x3, 1x2, 1x1,
95lbs 1x10

3x8 each leg
hyper extensions
2x12, 1x8
DB military press
25lbs 1x10, 2x8
close grip cable row
55lbs 1x12
75lbs 1x12
105lbs 1x3
85lbs 1x8
standing cable crunches
55lbs 1x10
65lbs 1x10
75lbs 1x10
30 mins of “wave” machine for cardio
What is this “jog” and “sprint” of which you speak?
Who was chasing you?
I enjoyed my sunshine chasing a little white ball from hole to hole around a big wide open manicured lawn with my son. (He beat me by 5.)
Hey soldog - I’m not convinced golf counts as cardio but then again I’ve never played. Jogs and sprints are what I allow myself when the bright beautiful sunshine beckons for cocktails on a busy boulvard terasse - the favourite summer passtime of most Montrealers. Staying outside is the compromise and by the time I’m done my stomach is begin for food and I skip the alchool. win win.
