Iron in the Blood

omnomnom

Your head’s bigger in the second pic.
Srsly, though, your abs are more defined. So whatever you’re doing is working.

Thanks Blue - got it from bikini village. I didn’t like it at all on the hanger but the sales person convinced me to try it and it turned out to be the best fitting one. Goes to show you never know.

I get an “omnomnom” from Cbear! That must be like the highes ranking compliment around here right? lol

Cal: my head got inflated by my ego  Sin of pride on easter day - there’s a spot in hell waiting for me.

^Seems like hell would be way more interesting than the other place, anyways.

Ooh, goody!

Wouldn’t want to be anywere you two aren’t - count me in

Tonight’s workout

Looks like my body was happy for all the food (french rabbit stew, cheese, stout beef stew and of course chocolates) plus 2 days of rest in a row. Haven’t had one of those in weeks.

155lbs 1x2 1x3
175lbs 1x2
185lbs 2x1
195lbs 2x1

215lbs 2x1
220lbs 2x1 PR whoot whoot!
215lbs 1x1
205lbs 1x1
195lbs 1x1
185lbs 1x3
175lbs 1x4
155lbs 1x6
135lbs 1x10

*removed my shoes dring deads for the first time and I could feel my heels grounding better. Also brought the bar right up against my shins- got a few bruises Blue- not as bad as you but still, I get it now.

pushpress
65lbs 1x6
75lbs 1x6
85lbs 1x3
95lbs 1x1
100lbs - no go, but it’s cool, I was fried from the deads.
60lbs 1x6

russian twist using 3kg medecin ball
3x25

plate flips for grip work
10lbs 1x12 each hand
25lbs two-handed 1x6, 2x12

30 minutes of 5mph treadmill with 2 minute sprint at 7mph in the last 5 minutes.

supper: a complete massive sweat potatoe, asparagus, chicken breast baked in salsa and a banana. Nothing like a full stretched belly after an honest workout.

cheers
N

Super awesome on the DL PR! You and Owlie both!

Deadlift PRs all over the place in PW tonight!

Way to go Nlmain!! Shoe-less for deads is a must (in my books, at least), and yay for deadlift bruises!

I had to google plate flips - they look like fun, thanks for the new idea.

220! Nice job! So are you back lifting heavier than before you stopped?

Thanks Snap:)

Those flips are fun Blue - just watch your feet, wouldn’t want to hear you dropped a 25lbs plate on your toes.

Kimba, I’m pretty happy with what I have acheived in the last 5 1/2 months - 6 months by April 26th.

as far as my bench goes I’m on par with my old numbers, 140lbs, but with 20lbs less on my frame (yes I was beyond plump)

I have easily surpassed my old deadlift PR of 175lbs. I’m looking forward to reaching 225lbs and being able to lift 4 freakin plates! But one thing at a time.

These two lifts were really improved by working on form so I’m hoping the same tactic will help my squat. I don’t count my old squat PR because depth was craptastic.

Tonight was bench night - my body was still hurtin a little from yesterday’s deads PR but I managed to work my way through it.

bench
95lbs 1x8
115lbs 1x6
135lbs 2x2
140lbs 1x1 - this was way harder than last time.
135lbs 1x2
115lbs 1x6
95lbs 1x8
75lbs 1x15

machine leg raise
100lbs 3x8

machine cable row
75lbs 1x12
95lbs 1x6
tried 125 - pulled halfway but no go.
105lbs 1x3
95lbs 1x6
65lbs 1x15 - the last reps were tough as hell.

DB lunges
25lbs 1x12
35lbs 1x8
45lbs 1x6

20 mins of elliptical - 2 miles.

Nlmain, powerhouse! Great transformation, too!

Every time I see your log’s title I think of actual iron in the blood. I love the citrus hat by the way.

On a more serious note, you’re looking really good. Numbers not changing can be frustrating, but the change is super obvious.

N, that is amazing progress for a six month stretch. You must be really stoked.

Solid bench, nice job!

Thanks Sky and Pch - I don’t take pictures every week- but every two months or so. It really shows me if I’ve been doing my homework- way better than weighing myself. As for measuring it gives me some idea but not the full picture.

Blue - I’m really feeling the pinch of the added cardio and stricter diet on that bench. I’m wrapping my head around the idea that I can’t be working my way into bikini beautiful and keep upping my bench. For now I’m happy with moving the big plates. This fall I will be stuffing my face and hopefully adding a few pounds to my max.

Kimba: I’m riding this wave as much as I can and reading about everyone else here keeps me really motivated. I know I’m taking advantage of partial newbie sydrome and eventually will be hitting a few stumps. My bench has been locked at 140 since february. Meanwhile I’m concentrating on upping squats and deads. I’m sure I’ll be hitting some serious plateau on these soon enough. But until then, damn it feels good to be back.

Tonight being my 3rd night in a row I was not expecting anything major. Just practicing form, flexing a few muscles and burning a few calories to justify some pasta for supper

neutral grip pullups
1.5x unassisted. Less than last time but my body is pretty beat up today so I’m cool with it.
with bands 5,4,3,3,2

squats
65lbs 1x12
75lbs 1x8
85lbs 1x6
95lbs 2x5
115lbs 1x2,1x1
120lbs 2x1 - increased weight
125lbs 2x1 - increased weight - happy with this one.
75lbs 1x6 with pause in the hole on each rep

was planning on 4 exercise but just these 2 took me 40 minutes so I decided to call it a day.

20 minutes of inclined treadmill 7-15% at 3mph. Squeezed ma glutes with every step - a good one for those looking for glute activation. My ass should be nice and toasty tommorow.

I like how you count the .5 pullup.
