Injuries while Doing Stupid Things

Inspired by my thinking of injuries done to myself out of being naive . Once I front flipped off a porch onto my back, I landed flat on a tree stump. My logic at the time was I can front flip in a sand box I can do it off of something. I was around 6 years old. Wondering what type of dumb things resulting in serious injuries you guys and gals have done. I have many, jumping down some stairs with a dog chasing me and getting closed lined by an awning is up there as well. Electrical fence shock to the head as well… it was funny because it was by accident.

I didn’t break anything but hurt my ankles really badly taking a running jump off of a roof. It was a couple feet higher than the level of a play field that was probably 15 feet away and looked like if you run really fast you could just jump right over to the field.

Didn’t make it. I was probably 9 or 10. It was probably about a 12 foot drop.

I think it was here, honestly don’t know, but I saw a gif of someone on a big-ass trampoline attached to this high platform or something. He jumps off the platform, bounces off the trampoline, and tries to just walk back onto the platform. Except he doesn’t. Instead, he slips and falls on the metal part of the trampoline with his weight on an ankle. Said ankle breaks in the way Silva’s leg broke after he kicked Weidman.

There was also a show I saw on Spike TV a while back that just shows a bunch of videos of teens/young adults doing the most absolutely retarded things possible. The best one I saw was this kid running towards a car that’s moving (pretty quickly at that) towards him. I suppose he thought he could jump onto the hood and over it or something. But nope. He jumps and is rammed head-first into the window and actually rolls over and off the side of the car.

So, I suppose he did his trick?

I never quite understood the fascination young boys have with jumping off things. I suppose I was just too much of a chicken to try any of those.

I was inspired by Bugs Bunny and Bruce Jenner simultaneously. A surprisingly painful combination.

I ran blind on to a busy road in front of a parked bus and was hit by a car, mangled my leg.

Enjoy the pic of my skin graft from the tib and fib break

^ that has reached the 10th level of awesome

Great stories,@ Rattlehead that looks like it hurt! @ SKYZYKS dropping 12 feet would have made me shit myself! I saved someone from falling off a roof once while we were ripping shingles off.
I remember the worst cuts I have gotten are hockey or skate boarding related. Went flying into the boards and the plush part of my finger tip just bursted from contact, I was rattled I couldn’t finish the game.

Skateboarding besides countless rolled ankles I think the funniest bail I did was following :
I came out of my house eating a pita and peanut butter wrap, I noticed my friends pointlessly waxing a square on the ground with candles. Thought it was a good idea to powerslide through the wax on my board to look like a bad ass.

I went way to fast as soon as I turned my wheel’s side ways I flew backwards off my board and ripped the side of my arm in the tricep area, it was bleeding pretty quickly so I thought on my toes and wrapped the pita on my arm and ran back into my house to mend my arm. All the while my buddies were laughing their asses off on the ground. It’s funny now but at the time it happened so fast I was more so shocked that it ripped open so quickly lol.

I was always jumping off of stuff and could roll out of it. I had jumped off of roofs before but once I slipped and went straight down, no roll. Both ankles turned purple and ballooned up. My ankles have sucked ever since.

Holy shit! It looks like you got a salad or something growing in there. Wow! Impressive injury nonetheless
This thread reminds me of the original Jaws when there all getting drunk and comparing injuries. Bet that took a while to heal.

I can’t even count the various smash ups from various sports. I spent the teen years dong dirt jumping on BMX bikes in the old slag dumps left over from the steel mills. The terrain was sick and some of the jumps were absolutely insane. The slag was as sharp as glass and would shred you like lettuce. I still have some embedded in my legs, knees, arms and elbows 25 years later. I was pretty fortunate with that compared to a couple of others. Two guys got life flighted out with fractured skulls from hitting a tree in the bottom of one gully we used to jump off of, and one guy compound fractured his femur from a bad landing off of a giant kicker we built.

Prof X hurt his bicep a few years back while curling 80’s without a warmup while seeking the validation of the skinny kid in the gym who thought he couldn’t do it.

Awesomeness, bike jumping is still pretty fun to do. Can’t believe that there’s shrapnel still stuck in you that’s pretty gnarly shit. My cousin’s were into dirt biking and being insanely redneck, I remember watching them buying beaters chain sawing the roofs off them then go into the woods and play demolition derby. Good ol days, I was known as the city slicker and they would have fun scaring the shit out of me with their shenanigans. Twas fun though.

The devil is a lie!

ahaha yes Spartacus all fucking mumbo jumbo to instill fear from walking through fire. No limits broski.

In regards to jumping off stuff like you guys; the stupidest one I ever did was bunny hopping off a park bench on a traffic cone, bruised gooch galore.

Yeah that skin graft and bones took a while but thankfully I was only 15 so it meant sitting at home playing video games which was sweeet.

It was actually from Zercher squatting. No one his size should put that kind of pressure on his bicep tendon.

Tearing a porch off an old house, one of the boards was hung and wouldn’t come loose, it was snagged where it was nailed to the roof (why I decided to tear the walls off before the roof, who knows). And I’m pretty much a karate expert (/sarcasm) so I figure I could just kick the shit out of the board and it would go flying into the yard. But I kicked it too low and it came loose alright, but instead of flying through the yard it just kind of flipped and the top end came right at me and put a nail in my bicep.

Similar karate related injury, drunk buddy throws a road flare at drunk me, I think “I’ll kick it right back at him, that’ll show him.” And I did, except he was smart enough to just dodge and I end up with second degree burns on my instep (Chuck Taylors are NOT flame retardant)

I was in the back of a Humvee reading Maxim, looking at pictures of Amber Arbucci when an IED blew up next to us and sent me to Walter Reed with 2nd and few little 3rd degree burns. Had drugged-induced dreams about her for like two weeks.

I think she at least owes me a blowjob.

Some of those blurry lines between reality and comatose are awesome. I was in a drug induced coma after someone replaced the whiskey in a bottle with drain cleaner and I took a big swig, which dissolved my esophagus.

I’m pretty sure all of the nurses in the ICU fell in love with me cuz I was a rock star or something.

They were 90lbs dumbbells.

I also pulled my upper chest after a hard sneeze once. Shit hurt for months.
