I Weigh 340 Pounds

A little tip for your workouts to make an easy transition into a bit of weightlifting, start with the big muscle groups first; your back, chest and thighs specifically. Keep the volume low, something like a warm up set and two working sets of 8-10 reps.[/quote]

And start with about half the weight you feel like you should be doing the first few times in. Otherwise, and probably even if you do it that way, your joints will be just amazingly sore for a few days. It’s happened to me every time I’ve been away for a while and come back, even when I thought I was starting with really low weight.

its all mental man, I lost 40lbs (obviously not nearly your challenge/accomplishment) just by becoming discgraced/disgusted with myself, every time I felt like cheating I’d just look in the mirror and be like wow and push myself harder.

keep at it!

I applaud your courage to seek help in this way with this crowd. I’ve seen some pretty harsh criticism in other threads. I hope you stick with it…Posting pictures and keeping a log like this will help fuel your motivation to continue. I’ve done the same on another forum to give me added push. I’ll be 36 in about a week; and a year and a half ago I made a life changing decision turn my health around…since every year after I’d be closer to 40 and “over the hill” than I was to my youth.

To date, I’ve dropped from a morbidly obese beer guzzlin, pizza binging pig, at 380, to 295 and stronger/more muscular than ever in my life. T-Nation has taught me lots of the stuff I’ve needed to get where I’m at, and I’m plugging away towards my goal of being 250-260 and HUGE.

I didn’t read your whole thread, but if I were to reiterate any tips they’d be: eat at least every 3 hours…you will be less hungry and naturally eat less. Some of my “meals” are as simple as a large apple; and I have to watch the clock to remind me when its time to eat as I no longer wait for hunger to attack me. Also eat any non-veggie carbs either right away in the morning or immediately post workout.

Hey Bruno,

Are you still there, you didnt go A-Wall on us did you.

Posting your daily routine will help you stay on track, and give everyone else something to talk about, lol. Really, stay focused on your physique goals. We only get to live this life once.

What’s shaking, Bruno?

Where are we at with the weight? Last I saw, it was…

That’s definitely headed in the right direction, but it’s pretty vague. 334 is different than 326. Can we get the number that the scale actually says?

I’m hoping you got your weight training sorted out, and you’re sticking to those walks (trying to finish them a smidge quicker each session would be a good call.)

Let us know what’s up.

I’m down to 330, give or take a couple pounds.

I think Bruno might of left us hanging.

I have been following and posting to this thread to encourage Bruno because I also have been on a similar quest to lose a substantial amount of weight while also weight training. It’s very easy to get discouraged when your big (335 lbs) in my case, and you want to see the results of your efforts. I’m down from about 360 lbs since January so I know the effort and dedication weight reduction, and the hard core training weight loss takes. Bruno just needs to give it time.

If you would like to critique my loss weight goals, and current HIIT fat loss workouts please see my thread http://www.T-Nation.com/tmagnum/readTopic.do?id=1982272

With the amount of effort it takes to loss the fat thru workouts, and the effort it takes to make permanent changes to diet I would welcome any suggestions and/or recommendations.

Haha, I just got coach-poached. Awesome.

Bruno, in the hopes that you’re still at least following this thread form afar, I’ll say that it’s not to late to buckle down, go full throttle, and shoot to break below 300 by the 4th of July. How’d that sound?

You’ve (obviously) found your way to the best site to help you out. Best of luck. I’ll keep an eye out for any new word.

Hey, if anything, all you guys contributing gave me a damn good place to start. It has everything. Hell, I shared this thread with my really big buddy. So thanks.

And I’m not confident enough to post my 280-290lb shirtless self with awesome beerbelly action tm, so kudos to Bruno for putting himself out there and atleast really trying.

And hell, perhaps after discussing integrating changes with the wife (nyah nyah…) I’ll make my own thread where y’all can grill me, chew me up, and wash it down with olive oil. Hopefully soon…

Go for it, most of the people are either directly or indirectly very helpful.

Quit being a bitch focus your wallowing nervous energy into fighting for excellence.

Hope you are working on changing your lifestyle Bruno.

I don’t judge anyone and only try and encourage because I have been “in your shoes” so to speak.

Check in when you can and hopefully things are going well!

It’s been 3 weeks since Bruno posted. I hope the guy has been keeping up the hard work!

I doubt it. Having been there myself, I know it is much more rewarding to post when you are following the plan and receiving encouragement, than when you’ve tanked and are ashamed to show your face, or fess up to your back sliding ways.

I think we’ve got another fatboy dropout.

Maybe he went back to playing WoW… =)

I was wishing dude the best.
I know he mentioned he was always kind of big becuase he lost 60 pounds in high school or whatever.

when you are always a FB its harder to become a FFB than someone that was always active.and is now a FB

not everyone is strong enough to change there lives us being creatures of habit and all.

but also someone told me once the road to failure is paved with the best of intentions.

You need to do this for you… DONT MAKE EXCUSES, educate yourself on proper nutrition and be ready to get to work, and dont be a b—h and make excuses. If you want to get in shape, its on you to make it happen!
