The 3 elite powerlifters I get to train with carry an enormous amount of muscle (even though they are carrying some extra BF) and it is very inspiring.
One guy is a high-600 bencher in single ply and has INSANE chest development. What am I getting at here? There’s no real downside to being big, and I’ve seen the light. Big weights + big appetite = big muscles.
I am still a bean-pole at 160lbs right now (you should of seen me at 140lbs back in may 2008) but I have set my sights very high. Even though I want to compete in powerlifting, I’m still training each muscle group hard. 250lbs or bust.

I was thinking something similar today, except it was “big & strong”. Which of course go together. The only downside I could possibly think of for being a man-mountain would be the amount of money you would have to spend on food for 7,000 kcal a day. But then I remembered Costco, so it’s all good. lol.
Anybody work in an office? I get weird comments like ‘why do you want to get MORE muscles’ or ‘why do you never eat the (insert junk food here) when people bring them?’
Depending on who asks, i usually same something like ‘so i look good, and not fat like most of you people here’
…i’m not well liked during the holiday treat fest.
Get Jacked I usually tell 'em, its good for the soul

If you look more the part, they quit asking why. I get comments all of the time, but it is mostly questions about what they need to do to get in shape…even though they don’t listen.
A lot of people are puzzled by why their is a desire to increase muscle mass, shit like 99% of the fuckin population doesn’t have a clue. I suppose they all want to be average. Who the fuck wants to be average, atleast that is how I feel.
I am glad that their are SOME people on this site that feel the same way. I get asked all the time “why do you want to be big?” My usual response:

lol or like the tshirt
‘because being small, weak, and puny really sucks!’
Mike and Arnold competed in the same class though and no one ever talks about Arnold as a freak. As much as i respect Arnold and his contributions, i think he’s greatly overrated as a BBer.
what are you smoking? i always thought arnold’s thighs weren’t great, but as X posted earlier, huge legs weren’t popular at the time.
i think there is something very wrong when you state that arnold was greatly overrated.

The one critique of Frank Zane I have is the leg size. They don’t seem big enough.
Hence my avatar change.
I have a new goal.
Difference in the goals of the times. NO ONE wanted huge legs back then much bigger than that. Tom Platz was considered a disproportionate freak when he first hit the stage.

See, I’m not so concerned about the hyuuuge legs. I figure I’ll get as big as I can, and then start tweaking for proportion.
same here, he has visible abs and looks like he could punch through a truck.
i said this earlier but i think what looks better is actually a bodyfat in the 10-11% range where you have decently visible abs but you just look more powerful.

I don’t get what you mean there. You want to be famous or something?
Well, hell yeah. But that’s not what I meant. I’m 5’2"… I get told alot I’m big for ‘my size’… I’m tired of this and want to be big in general. :)
I’ve stood next to silvio as he lives in my area…dood makes me look like a lollypop kid…I’m structurally wider through the shoulders but I don’t even look like I lift weights next to him.
I think he’s 5’6" and I’m 6’
You can do it man…idk how much bodybuilding you’ve followed but look up LEE PRIEST

The way I see it, people are already going to feel inferior looking at me, I don’t need a t-shirt that says it too. Could just be a difference in mindset.
On a side note, how are you looking/feeling ~2 days out? Hope you rock it at your show man.

Exactly why him and Frank Zane placed ahead of Tom Platz.
