I just recently started lifting for solely lifting purposes, before it was always for sports when i was in highschool. Just recently changed my lifestyle and working out has been a constant. My buddy who loves body building sent me to this site, even though im no where near a body builder just love the gym. so i thought id ask some advice.
Im doing the 6 weeks to superhero, and due to some travel situations have had to jump around but this week i can stay on it steadily again.
I am currently eating under 50 grams of carbs a day, using BCAAs after workout, and have seen great fat loss, but no gains in my lifts.
my ultimate goal at this time is to loose all my bodyfat for sumer. Im getting much bigger, but havent seen any increase in my strength at the gym, so basically im a fucking phony, but the fat is peeling off of me, ive lost a massive percentage of my fat since i started lifting and eating low carb. My question is, when im at the leanness i desire, should i start carb cylcing to actually get my strength up again, or will i still see great fat loss if i start adding in sweet potatoes, fruit, and oatmeal around my workouts now? and also is the 6 weeks to superhero the wrong progam for me?
It’s very hard to cut fat and gin strength in your lifts.
You need to decide what you want, go with it and then work on something else.
I was 6’6" and 337lbs. I wanted to get strong. So I started SS and I lost weight (325lbs) but, my lifts started stalling. So I started eating more and I did gain weight but, my lifts shot up. At 340lbs, my clothes fit the exact same at 325lbs and my squats went from 285lbs to 340lbs (5 reps for 3 sets).
I don’t care for the “pretty boy” look, I just want to be strong. Now, I still have this huge gut in front of me (DickieDo). I reset this week and I’m going to lose the weight till I get to 300lbs. I know I’m going to lose strength but, I’m okay with that, I just want to get rid of the gut.
So decide if you want to be pretty or strong and go with it. Again, it’s very hard to do BOTH at the sametime.

Strength gains are not mutually exclusive of weight lose but as long as you are on a diet I wouldn’t bet on any. Why don’t you just get to your desired leanness and then carb cycle. You seem to be on this path already so why rock the boat.

From the information you have put down and lack of defined goals this can not be confirmed or denied.
Why don’t you sit down and come up with real goals using S.M.A.R.T. and then find the best program to reach those goals. If it happens to be the one your on that’s great or you can finish your cut and choose the right program.
