The bigger I get, it seems the more difficult it becomes to sleep at night. I use to be able to sleep on my sides or in any position really and be fine. However, that was 70 lbs ago. Now I can’t sleep on my side or my shoulder starts to go numb. I usually end up falling asleep that way somehow and then waking up and rolling over to the other side. I have to have a pillow in between my arms as well now when sleeping on my sides.
The only position where I don’t seem to have any issues sleeping- is flat on my back, arms at my sides. I can only take so much of that though…
Anybody else have these issues or have ideas of how to cope with this?
haha dude funny post, but in seriousness congrats on getting that big. I have a similiar problem, doesnt sound as bad as yours but still hard for me to sleep, plus i have a herniated disc which makes it worse. One thing ive tried is to sleep on my stomach with my arms under my pillow, but not putting my head on my arms so they dont fall asleep. Also standard sleeping on your back is relaxing sometimes for me, but not all the time, might work for you. Have you ever tried elevating parts of your body with pillows or neck roll type things?
I’m not quite huge (240) but I too have problems sleeping on my sides. Kinda sucks because that is my absolute favorite position to sleep in. I’ve taken up sleeping on my stomach with my arms crossed under my chest. My arms fall asleep quite often but thats not as bad as having my shoulder hurt all freaking day.
Ever since I started taking sleep medicine I’ve started not really caring about what position I fall asleep in, I just pass out. Totally awesome

Now when us boys post like this people get all mad and complain that we are snide, or mean. That posts like this intimidate people. People get mad if you make them honestly evaluate themselves and stop living in a delusional state of self glamor.
Please hang around and post more, you have more testicular fortitude than some of the men that post here.
My arm always falls asleep, its kind of funny I have to move to some other position then wait to get feeling back in my arm before I can get up. Not exactly sure when this started happening but getting bigger may be the factor. I can’t remember the last time I feel asleep on my side, it just doesn’t happen anymore.
If you read up on anything on how to maximize your sleep process it always recommends flat on your back, your body is able to function at its maximum this way because you are not putting pressure on any organs. I know it sucks not having many options but just keep in mind flat on your back is best so being limited to that isn’t the worst thing.
get those hotdog pillows. body pillows I believe they are called, and stick one between your legs and then get a normal pillow and use that to “lean” into for your shoulders.
sleep on your side.
sucks to be massive dude… people just don’t understand

I’m not huge just have back problems so I’ve been sleeping on my back a lot lately. Since going from sleeping on my side to my back I sleep better, feel better when I wake up (no aches and pains) and my posture is improving. The best thing is I sleep 5hrs a night and fell better than if I’d slept 8.
I’m 230, I think that’s big enough… anyways, I can’t sleep on my sides or back at all. It is usually on my stomach, one knee out to the side. My arms fall asleep a lot, it is kind of funny sometimes because I’ll wake up, realize how asleep my arm is, poke/scratch it hard to humor myself, let it “re-awaken”, and then pass out.
LOL- at some of these responses, some serious insecurity issues you’ve publicly shared with us all. Either that, AND/ or your reading and comprehension skills are on par with inner city remedial learning classes.
Anyway, I’m 250 lbs now (70 lbs ago would’ve been 180, which is pretty thin at 6’2"). I typically do the pillow under body parts thing. I like to wedge a pillow behind me while I’m on my side, then sort of lay on my back&side at the same time.
Possibly because I was use to sleeping in the fold of a futon? I also like to do the pillow between the knees (can’t stand knees touching each other) and the occasional pillow under the arm and/or pillow half-way under another pillow so when I lay on my back I can rest my head off to one side, while not having my neck completely cocked.
IT’s not an overall size thing with me, but as I got more muscular my shoulders would hurt sleeping in various positions. My girl’s always waking up asking ‘is your arm okay?!’ -lol
