So recently i havent been able to sleep. I read about some techniques but it just seems that my brain keeps thinking about random shit and i cant stop it so I dont fall asleep. What are your guys thoughts on sleeping pills? and/or Melatonin? Also when you have insomnia can/should you still eat if your hungry? or will that further cause me to stay awake?
Melatonin worked for me as well, eating before I sleep seems to make me more tired. I was getting no sleep for about a week before I started with Melatonin. I started with 2 caps then at most I took at one time was 4. I do not take it anymore as it is a temporary fix.
I just mentioned this recently in another thread. I tend to get anxious when it’s bed time for some reason and I can’t calm down. Usually this experience is worsened when I realize I need to fall asleep because I have to be up at 4am. The past few nights I’ve been taking 3 caps of Z-12 + 3 caps of ZMA. I’ve been sleeping great. Melatonin never worked for me personally. My two cents.
Earplugs might help. Certain forms of meditation before bed could help as well. Reading before bed.
Have your regular everyday bullshit life problems resolved as best you can before turning out the lights. Problem is,for me anyway is that bedtime seems to be the perfect time to sort things out…quiet, calm, relaxed etc when in reality it’s the worst time.
One trick I learned to help fall asleep. Picture in your mind a chalkboard and draw a box or rectangle. In that box write the number 99. Again in your mind, erase the number but leave the box and write in 98. Keep counting down untill you relax enough to fall asleep. It sound stupid but it might help.
Whack off, then read a book.
I’m not even joking.

xanax!
all joking aside, i read eating milk and carbs before bed helped you to get off to sleep, i tried it and on the nights when i tried it i noticed i got off to sleep quicker, obviously if your dieting you might not be able to do this.
also a note on ZMA i tried it and it did help me get to sleep, but the next day i couldn’t wake up.
Make sure your room is as dark as possible. Remove all electronics (that you can) from the room, turn your mobile phone off. Turn off electrics at the plug. Eat a cheese sandwich. Sleep
I used to take ambien, but that was like fixing a dent with a sledge hammer.
Now I take benadryl, it causes drowsiness without the weird side effects. But damn, I do miss popping a 'bien and falling asleep in like 10 minutes.
fuck this really blows lol I dont even want to eat i just feel terrible. Eating feels like it would take to much work lol…
eat a whole pie of pizza and chase it down with a pint of ben and jerry’s. Best sleep of your life.
There is an over the counter med i tried… i think its called sleep time or something like that. Basically it is the drowsy agent found in tylenol PM minus the tylenol, decongestants… etc. I’ve tried it and it worked.
Ive dealt with insomnia. You say "my brain keeps thinking about random shit and i cant stop it". Quit thinking so much before bedtime; do some mundane tasks 15-30 minutes prior to hitting the sack to as to relax and clear your mind. Ive heard a lot of advice regarding meditation though I`ve never taken that route. The key idea though is to chill out and cut down on the heavy thinking and stress prior to getting into bed
I highly recommend St-Johns Wort. Its worked wonders for me. Its a natural plant extract and can be found in the vitamins section of your typical drugstore/pharmacy. No prescription necessary, no documented negative side effects to your health. Widely used in Europe to relieve restlessness and so-called sleep disorder symptoms. Try it. Its dirt cheap and very effective IMO.
I`d avoid sleeping pills altogether. Most if not all have not-so-stellar side effects and though they may knock you out, you miss out on REM sleep. Not good.
Good luck.

Here’s what i do. I take zma, 3 mg melatonin, 400mg valerian root, 400mg passion flower, and 200mg of hops(Humulus lupulus) on an empty stomach about 60 min before i want to go to sleep. Then i listen to music like this:
and
While listening, i focus on taking deep relaxed breaths and letting them out slowly. While i focus on my breathing, i continue to relax and nothing else goes through my mind except my focus on my breathing. Nothing like focusing on the peace and calm to get you relaxed.
Might sound kinda feminine but burn a lavender scented candle about 20 - 30 minutes in your bedroom, before you plan to go to sleep. I helps facilitate the sleep process. If you can’t do that, either rub one out or find someone to rub one out for you.
- Stomach breathing when going to sleep.
- No trance before bedtime.
- Jerking off actually doesn’t work for me, my heart rate like anyone’s gets accelerated and I feel this works against me when it is sleepy-time.
- Read something for 30 mins in yer bed.
- Dim the lights 30 mins before sleep wherever you go, if I recall correctly your body starts to naturally produce melatonin or something like that.
- Try going to sleep/waking up at the same time.
- ZMA
- Melatonin
- Breathe Right strips
- GABA
- 5-HTP
- Glycine
- Valerian
- Chamomile tea
- Never go to bed hungry

Fall asleep as easy as falling down stairs.
And stay that way.
eating before bed makes me stay up much longer. Dont procrastinate falling asleep by watching tv or w/e. Meditative breathing such as box breathing which is breathe in 4 seconds… hold it 4 seconds and release or something like that will calm you down.
