How Much Should I Weigh?

I’m 5’6", 147 lbs right now. I’m 11% body fat so I could be 141 lbs if I got to 7%. Anyway, is that a good weight to be at if I want to get pretty strong? If not, what would he a good weight (I’m talking lean, not just gaining a bunch of fat). I searched google and found http://howmuchshouldiweigh.org and it says “You should be about 145 pounds, but anything from 131 and 159 pounds is still OK.” I don’t feel like I’m super bulky now but I’m definitely not skinny.

You shouldn’t worry about it at all. Eat a lot of meat and lift heavy with a decent program and even better consistency. I’m assuming you’re very young. What are you current lifts and what does your training and diet look like?

Possibly move to beginner’s thread??

If you want to be a charmeleon you have to weight at-least 159lbs. Then hopefully at 200+ lbs you’ll evolve into a charizard.

Wrong. Charmeleon only weighs 19kg.

You got me. And Charizard is just under 200.

Do you want to be competitive or do you just want to be small? You can be bigger and leaner. I’m 5’8" and my pre-meet weight is around 195 lbs and I look all pretty with abs. Don’t limit your growth because you’re not eating enough.

One of the easiest ways to get strength up is to gain weight. Eat to recover then when you get to a point where you’re going to compete assess what weight class you’ll be in and choose whether you’re more competitive at a lower weight class and whether cutting down or manipulating water weight will be a smart decision.

I’d rather be part of the squirtle squad any day.

They gots the sun glasses, yo.

the pokemon size stats are retarded

There is no such thing as being overweight. Only overfat.

If you’re going for the most competitive your body can be, basically do what LM said. Louie Simmons said that at whatever weightclass your deadlift starts to go down, you compete in one weight class lower.

I saw a chart posted on this site once that suggested someone of my height should weigh 240lb to be the absolute most competitive. Right now, I’m very comfortable at 190-195 at 5’9.5", but that’s not set in stone and I may very well decide to go up in weight in the future.

It’s also a huge improvement from when I started lifting weights when I was 20 and a skinny-fat 140-145lb. That’s what a steady diet of alcohol, crappy food, and late nights partying does to a body.

At 145, I was overfat despite being woefully skinny. At this higher weight, I’m leaner and far more muscular.

Also keep in mind that height alone is not the ultimate factor for how much you should weight, but also overall frame. Someone at 5’10" with wide frame and large clavicles will need to weight significantly more than someone at 5’10" with shorter clavicles and narrower frame to be as filled out.

Do you still have a link to that chart by any chance?

OP: do you lift?

Sorry, I dont. But what’s probably better than that chart is to look at top lifters about your height and rustness of frame and use that to figure it out.

OP!

this could be you someday.

LOL this is awesome

according to the link, my max weight should be 197lbs… i dont think i’ll ever go back down that low. at least not until im like 50

That link is using BMI I believe. I think that’s an acronym for bullshit mass index.
