Do swiss ball 500 lbs deadlifts. Like put 500 lbs in the rack like yer gonna do a massive rack pull but then roll the swiss ball next to it, stand on it, then reach down and deadlift it.
the gym manager will think since you’re using a swiss ball it must be safe

just ignore it and tell yourself you know a secret that they never will. eventually you will get to a point of size and strength that no one will say anything. till then, lift hard.
Deads are my favorite lift too, can’t get enough of 'em. Fuck everyone else in the gym, let them stay weak.

I don’t know what it is about deadlifts that are so awesome. Squats don’t make me feel nearly as great afterwards (which probably means I need to work on them some more). More than anything else, when I deadlift, I really feel like I’m doing something right.

Guess what man? It wont ever stop, so just get used to it. The alt. is to either 1) go to a powerlifting/strongman/oly gym or 2) get a home gym.
That isn’t true at all. I go to a pansy gym. I can literally count the number of people I’ve seen squatting and deadlifting (combined) on one hand. Nobody has ever said anything negative to me for doing it.
Say that you are going to tricep kickback their ass if they dont the shut the bosu up!
Say you’re gonna put them ATG so hard that their skinny-leg jeans will rip.
Tell them that you will lift the dead however much you damn want to and if they say otherwise you will lift them in a minute.
Tell them you’ve got “Balls of steel” so “Blow it out your ass!” because "It’s time to kick ass and chew bubble gum. And I’m all out of gum. "
Or you can just tell them that your doctor told you to do it. Dont call them deadlifts, call them ‘back pulls’.
Tell them that you cut a muffin and they will regret hanging around.
Say that you would be more than happy to have your own room, with your own weights, and your own peace of mind.
Tell them that your dad is a scientist and he is designing a mechanical spine that you are testing out for him.
Say that you are training to be in the Para-Olympics, if they ask what disability you have tell them you broke your back doing deadlifts.
Create a little world of population 1. That’s your world and only interact with someone if they are in your way. It doesn’t matter what any else says or is doing because the workout you are doing is personalised to you and will give you the gains not them.
i’ve been to gyms with hardcore lifters and fitness gyms and soccer mom gyms. Rarely have any of them said anything to that nature regularly. Actually I’ve never heard it when I do it. I have seen other people do it and someone might say you should stop you will hurt your back. But when I look at them I think the same thing. It’s entirely possible that they see you are doing it with some off the rocker form and just want to be polite.
Do you listen to an ipod when you lift? That’s what I do, and its always full-blast. That way I can’t hear what anyone says anyway. Helps me to tune everything out and focus on myself and the iron.
Most people just hate deadlifts bc they are hard work and everyone hates hard work, that’s the real reason behind it. Keep at it man, keep eating and lifting heavy - its worth it. When I started deadlifting I could only do 135, I can do 405 now and can’t wait for the day I can do 700+. What will they be saying when you are ripping that kind of weight from the floor and they know they couldn’t even budge it half an inch?
Something about these deadlifting threads always bothers me. I’ve deadlifted , cleaned , squatted regularly without anybody bothering me. Sometimes , reading these forum posts makes it sounds like deadlifting is some weird taboo art form.
I dunno , maybe it’s just the fact that I am somewhat medium sized at 220 pounds that no one bothers me. Then again , I was deadlifting at 170 pounds with no one bothering me either. THe point is , is that it’s just weird having so many people being approached about the deadlift when i just have not seen it at my college gym.
I see what you’re saying. I haven’t had anyone really try to tell me they are bad for me either, I’ve noticed some weird looks from people…but no one actually ever comes up and says something to me about them.
There’s a free gym that I used to frequent that is for soldiers, coast guard, DA civilians and local nationals. I got talked to about doing deadlifts by my senior NCO because they are too loud and they damage the floor. I said to myself I seen a rubber mat that wasn’t really being used. Rolled it up moved it to the gym, unrolled and folded it until it was about 2" thick. After that I got another talking to for putting the dagum mat there and they said it was still too loud and STILL damaging the floor. At that point I realized my career is more important that working out at this free gym and found another gym that just cost me some gas and time.
Long story short, when it comes to doing deadlifts I have to go way out of my way to do them.
