Hi … moving house and planning on setting up my home gym a bit better this time.
I’ve already got most of what I need (and can afford) but I really want to get some decent rubber mats.
Did a search and the consensus appears to be to get stall mats.
I did a google search to no avail. Anyone know a specific place in sydney where I can get them?
i believe others have mentioned tractor supply previously.

Thanks but I should have been a little more clear … I was hoping for something specific.
People have mentioned farm supply or feed and tack or whatever … not much of that around sydney it seems.

i worked for a place who supplied mats and i think they were about fifty bucks per 4x6 foot mat. they were on half inch thick too, i have some as a shoe mat in the winter and i dont have a tape to double check it. hope it helps you.
I am working on building a home gym and I am looking at the weider 650 squat rack, has anyone used this product and how do you feel about it?
Do you feel there might be a better system for the money?

Do you have more specifics, maybe a link? I did a short search and couldn’t find the 650.
I have a wieder 540 and am disapointed with the setup. Nothing insurmountable, but for instance the pins setup in the front. This means that if you use the rack for benching, you rack and unrack the bar from a forward position instead of rearward as it is commonly done. And you can’t switch the posts to the back due to the cable attachments on the rear of the rack.
Also, the pins and the catch bars can come out if you slide a barbell sideways across them. I wrap a bungee cord to around them and the post to prevent this.
However, it is a fairly sturdy rack and it was hard to beat the price ($200.00 with bench).
These are all things that can be fixed but I hate to have to modify a new rack.
I also had a cheaper weider rack but it was too shallow from front to back and had a 300 lb wieght limit.

I do not know how much you are looking to spend, however a strongly recommend the Elite Fitness Systems home gym package titled: “So you hate your Gym package.” Just go to www.elitefts.com and click on the links to these articles and packages. It is what I would go with. Hope this helps.

Did you notice the Max wieght of 300 pounds? This would cause concern for me.
As it is I think I may do some reinforcing on mine for saftey sake.

Jesup Gym also sells home gym equipment. I haven’t found many companies that offer Body Solid equipment (decent home equipment) at more affordable prices. Online they only display Powerline but email them and ask for prices on the Body Solid line if you’re looking for a little more duarable stuff.
The mats linked to above, are high quality and quite inexpensive. As I drive to Jesup to get my equipment/supplements, I’m not knowlegdable of their shipping charges.

If you have a Sams Club nearby, you may want to check there. The same rack in the store sells for $418.00 and no shipping.
I bought a bench from Jesup years ago. It was a very positive experience and I would highly recommend them.

Jesup Gym is a great place and the owner, Rex, is very helpful. Back to the mat issue, if you have a Wal-Mart in your area look in their fitness area. I know you said, quality right? I thought the same thing. My parents bought me three 4 X 6 mats form their for Christmas and I thought they would be junk. Turns out they are great! They are actually 2 x 2 interlocking pieces with edging so you can make the mat as large and strangely shaped to fit the space as you want. The best part…price $17.00!!!
Now don’t think I am not testing these things out. I train under Coach Davies, do a search and see the type of exercises he recommends. It’s not like I have a Tony Little Gazelle sitting on them. I am rough on them, but they haven’t ripped, torn or come apart at the interlocking seems…
Check them out, you may be surprised…

You can pick up some interlocking martial arts matts for not too much. They seem to be cheaper than rubber matting in most places.
