High Rep Clean & Press the Ultimate Conditioning Exercise?

damn some decent threads left on T-Nation! this is pretty similar to the crossfit workout “grace” which is C&P 135 30 reps for time. Been meaning to try this for awhile. Just did a search on youtube lot of guys getting that in under 2 minutes. I think I’ll give it a shot on Thursday.

oh nice… 30 reps would be pretty sick under two minutes. Wouldnt be that hard if you trained for it a little bit… OK it might be but we’ll see! My new goal is 25. Probably hit that up tomorrow… if i get it I’ll post a vid. If I dont then I’ll delete the video and go cry in the corner…

Had a bit of a mad session with squats… The bar felt like a fucking feather basically.

before tonight id lifted 180kgs in a belt… hit 182.5/400lbs for a double beltless. 2 TINY tech changes and I destroy ever squat PB I have.

nicely done! I haven’t back squatted heavy in a long time. I’ve been working on being “explosive” with my squats and doing front squats. I struggle to get over 225 on my front squats though cause it hurts my shoulders/neck (diagnosis: vaginitis)

Oh I’m good for probably close to 400 on back squats… I’m talking about where the bar rests during front squats… You know on that bone on top of your shoulders? That’s hurts like a mofo

You got to really flare your lats and push your front shoulders forward on front squats. Bar real damn close to the throat almost past your shoulders. Your elbows should be damn high, If the bar is resting on the bone on your shoulder it sounds like your elbows are low. One lift I am half way decent at is front squats. My last front squat workout, not my best ever (270x8) but showed tech better than the other. Kalle Beck front squat 240x8 - YouTube. Not saying my technique is spot on but maybe it might be helpfull

yeah the bar rests in the little lip that is created by my delts. It rests against my throat… Maybe I just have boney shoulders. I’ll get a video soon for some critique

Belt adds about 30kg/66lbs to my front squats, and about 50kg/133lbs to my deads… so Im assuming similar to backs and then wraps aswell on top… or am I being a nut job?

On the front squat thing - do you do oly or arms crossed? I jkept failing around the 110kilo mark with arms crossed as i dropped the bar, now i use oly and hold the bar with maybe 3 fingers from each hand with a thumbless grip and its a lot more secure. helped to 150kilos recently.

My legs are fine today… WAT THE FUCK.

I ran out of time at a wimpy 16 reps on the 135 C&P. I paced myself too much, had a few left in the tank, just didn’t want to bang out 10 reps in the first 10 seconds and then fall over dead.

Yeah I do the arms crossed method. I tried Oly(clean grip) and it hurt my not so flexible wrists. I know it gets better with time but I just usually go with arms crossed BBer stule

Was going to do 135 but thought it would be cool to do my bodyweight. So I threw 185 (weigh 180) on there

Got 9 in right under 2 minutes paced myself to much as I was a little nervous about gassing and failing, I think I can get it up to 15 in under two minutes if I attack that shit!

True, if you try a closer stance you should get a better drive out of the bottom and as you ascend you need to try and drive your chest into the bar and your hips forward and back under.

At the minuite your using a pretty wide stance which is weaker out of the bottom of a deep raw squat and you are also driving your hip up and back which is a weak position for a raw squat.
