But atleast you now have a date for independence

true, we do. and if we know whats good or us, we will vote against it. Scotland already is a Nation. A Nation which is VOLUNTARILY in a legislative union with three other Nations (England, Wales and N.Ireland). We dont need to PROVE our Nationhood to anyone, but i we choose to do so, we will suffer hugely. We have too few taxpayers and too many takers. We rely on the rest of the UK to pay for our laziness, imo
totally agree with you here man. 100%.
Same.
Wow I thought all you Scots were chomping at the bit to end the Union where the hell has the spirit of rebellion gone? What would your great patriot Mel Gibson have to say about this?
I posted a reply to this but it seems to have gone awol. So, once again, Scots these days dont need to rebel against anything. Scotland is not ruled by England or anyone else. Scotland joined England in a Union of the Crowns and of the Parliaments in 1606 and 1707. The Union parliament was in London, the Union King was James vi of Scotland.

In Wallace’s/Mels day, Scotland wasnt ruled by the English either. The King of Scotland (Alexander iii) had died, there was no logical heir, lots of in fighting ensued and the English King thought that was a good time to impose his will over Scotland. Enter Wallace, then Bruce (they never met though)and the rest is literally history.

I understand what youre saying, but the Scots have no need to rebel against anything. We are not ruled by England, as was the case with William/Mel. Scotland joined in a Union of the Crowns and Parliaments 300 and 400 years ago. The King of that Union was James vi, of Scotland no less!
Yeah I hear you but we should really start getting this back on topic. I think Mad Max Mel was far more hardcore than William Wallace Mel

yes, but Lethal Weapon Mel was more hardcore than either. I mean, putting a dislocated shoulder in and out for fun? Hardcore or what?

Lethal Weapon Mel would’ve pissed his pants if he’d come up against Mad Max II Mel!

Should just change this thread’s title from “Hardcore” to “Being Mel Gibson”

I propose that the hardcoreness of Mel Gibson, in descending order is:

Mad Max Mel
Lethal Weapon Mel
Braveheart Mel
Payback Mel
Chicken Run Mel
The Patriot Mel

I have excluded movies that have no hardcoreness

I would say Payback and Braveheart would both beat LW

Braveheart has got to be first

who would you back between Braveheart and Gladiator UFC rules plus one sword each?

Telling me this isn’t hardcore enough for you?

Also, you missed Alcoholic Anti-Semitic Domestically Abusive Mel. (I kid.)

You’re forgetting Bird on a Wire Mel, arguably the most hardcore

I sincerely hope this turns into a parody thread of all of Gibson’s film roles, spanning the entirety of his career.

LOL I am a Geordie which loads of Scots have told me is merely a Scot with his head caved in
Aye but the got it the wrong way around. Native Sanddancer here

Most Scots I speak to want to stay in the Union, but I have a feeling they’ll show Braveheart the night before the referendum and the 16 year olds will swing it.

To stay on topîc, kilts are pretty hardcore.

no way would Payback Mel beat LW Mel. Remember that scene at the end of LW when he kills a bunch of guys when he’s handcuffed and then shouts “Who’s fucking next?”? Badass.

Braveheart Mel could probably beat LW in a square go, but LW Mel has a gun which puts Braveheart Mel at a serious disadvantage

Braveheart and Gladiator is easy; Scots beat Italians every time.

I love that movie!

I can’t help but think that maybe I’ve ruined this thread

how would Braveheart Mel beat Gladiator Mel???

Nah mate it was ruined by page ten

Is it just me or do both of the previous posts not make much sense?

I think Mel Gibson was offered the role before Crowe and he turned it down, so don’t worry it’s not a total failure on your part.

In the future you can just play it off as if you knew that anyway and you’re an obscure trivia aficionado.
