'Hardcore'

First, get my stance correct if you are going to try to “quote” me.

I have no disdain for people who don’t take training seriously.

I have disdain for people WHO TAKE UP SPACE IN THE GYM as they don’t care about training seriously.

By taking such an issue with me about the audience I have issue with, you imply that I som ehow do not grasp the other aspects of life.

I am letting you know this is false.

I would be against people at NASA chewing bubblegum and playing Centipede all day just like I would be the guy talking on his phone on the pec deck.

You seem to misunderstand MUCH of what I write.

Dyslexia?

Uh, I do train at MetroFlex. I even posted pics here from contests we were set up with booths with them because I traveled with that gym for about a year. Go look in T-Cell.

Oh, wait…that was a joke about the fact that a guy with fucked up knees can’t do a lunge.

Funny.

Not really.

X, I’m legitimately curious as to what your knee injury is?

I have tendinosis (tissue degredation) in my left patellar tendon, and in my right knee: an unrepaired “bucket” tear of the lateral mensicus, laxity of the MCL (grade II sprain concurrent with the MCL tear), and a partially torn gastroc.

I can still lunge without trouble, so I’m assuming your injury must be quite serious.

Dude, good for you. I was run over by a car at the age of 5 and marching in the military took out the rest of the cartilage.

Running for me took a while as a kid so great for you and your injury.

Still waiting on Brick to start his one on one debate without the rest of you jumping in for pot shots.

Interesting, I was just curious was all. My ortho jokes that I’ve got the oldest 25 year old knes he’s ever seen from the 10 or so years I played basketball (at my height, believe it or not) and skateboarding. It’s a legitimate struggle for me at times, but when I can string together enough consistent time without re-injury (I’m getting better and better at doing so now), I manage to make pretty decent gains and can squat, lunge, etc.

Lunging was not easy when I was first recovering from my injury to the right knee. In fact, 8 weeks post tear, I squatted 315x8 but struggled to not fall over doing a bodyweight lunge. Getting to where I could lunge and step up with added resistance did a lot to improve my knee stability and alleviate the grinding and pain I had as a result of the tear. Deep squats also seem to help “open up” the knee joint and alleviate some of the discomfort.

Dude, no offense, but I got my quads up to 30" at their biggest without doing even ONE lunge.

They are not and have never been necessary to get huge…and bottom line, you train according to how your own body responds.

I was in a motorcycle accident also. Barbell squats are out now unless I want to risk further injury.

That’s life. If some kid logs in and laughs at the fact that I don’t squat later, they should read this too.

I had mine up to 27" measured at the midpoint at their largest without doing lunges as well.

I don’t think lunges are a very good muscle builder, but they’re definitely very useful for mobility and joint health, which is what I was scratching at with my post. They may not help you actually build the muscle, but they will help keep your joints in a condition that will help you continue to build the muscle.

I used to do 4day split during the week, and a fullbody day on Sun. guys would jump in with me on Sundays end up puking or leaving half way, doing a wholebody day in an hourish workout, for guys with upper level strenghth can be real hardcore, but if you’d been doing it for a while, not so much. Hardcore is a pretty realitive term, squating till you puke, supersetting chest and back, highrep breathing squats(dr ken style)all hardcore, I,ve been forced to train in my garage this winter,it gets so cold you have to becarefull your hands don’t stick to the bar, pretty hardcore, this thread took a good turn, I thought on the first page it was a joke, my bad

true, we do. and if we know whats good or us, we will vote against it. Scotland already is a Nation. A Nation which is VOLUNTARILY in a legislative union with three other Nations (England, Wales and N.Ireland). We dont need to PROVE our Nationhood to anyone, but i we choose to do so, we will suffer hugely. We have too few taxpayers and too many takers. We rely on the rest of the UK to pay for our laziness, imo

totally agree with you here man. 100%.

T…Another thing I think of as “hardcore” is someone who would make a major life decision to fit around how much they want to train. [/quote]

Have done this TWICE. Even though I make great money, stayed at jobs I know I needed to leave but they allowed me to pursue extracurricular goals. The first time was competitive street fighter 4. GOD THAT WAS DUMB. Now how can I give up 2 hour lunch breaks to the gym where I am now???

For the record, I don’t see an issue with training in one’s top 4 priority list. One’s health, both mental and physical are priceless.

i know a marine on another site who had his legs pretty much half blown apart in Afghanistan. took him like 2 years to be able to walk again, he now squats 4 plates for a few reps.

thats pretty hardcore IMO.

Wow I thought all you Scots were chomping at the bit to end the Union where the hell has the spirit of rebellion gone? What would your great patriot Mel Gibson have to say about this?

That’s the problem, so many idiots here fail to take an objective view on the subject and watch something like Braveheart and start spouting anti english shite.

These idiots are most often unemployed and on benefits.

I understand what youre saying, but the Scots have no need to rebel against anything. We are not ruled by England, as was the case with William/Mel. Scotland joined in a Union of the Crowns and Parliaments 300 and 400 years ago. The King of that Union was James vi, of Scotland no less!
