In everyones opinion, what is the worst thing about bodybuilding? The thing I hate the most is how long it takes to see results. The flip side of that coin is that because it’s such a long process, it’s easy to see who is really into it vs who is not. I’ve only been going to the gym for a year and I’ve already seen dozens of people start for a month and quit.
So anyways, what do you like LEAST about bodybuilding?
Years ago bodybuilding was not only about building muscle but was also about the way it looked on you. Now a days it seems like it is just a competition as to who can get so big they look dumb. For instance, Arnold is by no means as big as a lot of these guys now a days… but he looks better than every single one of them.
And people who don’t understand that bodybuilding is still about creating an ideal, balanced physique and the Olympia is a contest of extremes where other contests are not.
That damn picture of Bob Sagat in your avatar. j/k
I think the oiled up guys in thongs is pretty bad myself.
But the worst thing IMO is the perception of bodybuilders by the rest of the population. People seem to be under the impression that if you’ve got a lot of physical mass, that you must be severely lacking in mental mass. They also think that working hard makes you a “lunk”, or knuckle dragging roid raging bafoon.

Oh, so I guess you think you’re better than me huh?
I train hardcore and looked pissed off in the gym and all day, of course I’m better than you. I’m better than everyone else I see during the day too. Skinny professor? HA, who cares about your fufilling career and good family life, I’m a bodybuilder and I look good in a wife beater RARRRR!
I think the worst thing about bodybuilding is the fact that it has encompassed so much of the fitness world, at least to the people who don’t train which is the overwelming majority.
How many people have been recommended to start lifting weights, and what is the most common reply(especially by women, sorry ladies)?
“I don’t want to get bulky.” “I don’t want to look like a bodybuilder.” So I guess to sum it up, that so many people relate the bodybuilder physique to lifting weights and there is no middle ground between a skinny guy and Arnold.
The nutritional aspects are the worst or the hardest part for me. Having to eat 6 or 7 times a day is a pain in the ass and eating out while dieting is just about difficult if not impossible.

because of what you said, i officially hate talking to women about weight training. they seriously think they’ll look like ah-nuld if they touch anything more than the pink dumbbells. i’m insulted by how easy they think it is to get big.

What’s wrong with a little Danny Tanner? LOL.
So I guess oily thonged men is taking home the trophy so far! Funny, I didn’t even think about that.
I’m happy that no one (so far) has said that going to the gym is the worst part. I feel like I go to the gym and everyone there is just miserable to be there, where I’m all psyched up and ready to move some big weights (relatively speaking, of course).
The worst thing?
The Addiction!!!
I see just a bit of a change and I get so excited, I can’t wait to get back to the gym. I wish I could have had this enthusiasm for weight training years ago because it definately gets harder when you get older.
