Hack squat or goblet squat?

Hey guys, I need some help. I can’t seem to do the hack squat without knee pain, but when I do the Goblet squat, I don’t have any pain (for those wondering where the back squat is, I can’t do the movement due to not being able to handle the barbell being on my back thanks to my cerebral palsy). Is the knee pain just because of how the hack squat is designed, or am I doing something wrong? I’m considering going back to the Goblet squat starting on Monday, but need a second opinion before making a decision.

If it feels better, I generally recommend doing it

Saying that, videos of both would be helpful

You gotta do what works for you. Does your gym have power squat? I have trouble with the hack as well. My back doesn’t like it. I’ve never been able to get comfortable on any hack. I’ve pretty much been using the arsenal power squat, cybex squat press, extension, curl, glute machine and RDL’s for legs.

How do you feel about front squats?

My knees also don’t like the hack. If you’ve found a movement that can challenge your quads and doesn’t cause joint pain, I’d think you’re good to go!

Maybe you’re going deeper than you can comfortably go. Try reducing the ROM and see if that helps!
