Gyms You Train At

Wichita Falls Athletic Center, Mark Rippetoe’s gym. Pretty interesting tid bits come out of Rip’s mouth on the daily!

Plenty of racks, weights, platforms, bumpers, and some decent odds and ends. Rarely crowded (never has been, actually) and way better than any commercial place I’ve been.

Will be adding a rack/platform and weights at my place soon to add to my variety and aid in convenience on busy days. [/quote]

Sounds like an awesome place to train, especially because Rip is there.

Yeah, I’ve learned some pretty good shit just listening to Rip’s ramblings and outbursts! Lol

During the week I go to la fitness, it sucks for the most part, but work is eventually taking over my payments with the corporate account, so free makes it better. They have a rack and a couple squat stands so I have options if I need to squat and the curl rack is taken.

On weekends I go to Jakked Hardcore in Montgomery, IL, best gym I have ever been to, powerlifting room has 2 monolifts, 3 competition benches, and deadlift platform, bodybuilding area has all the basic machines and free weights plus a dumbbell rack that goes up to 250’s. The strongman area is one of if the best equipped anywhere, Olympic platform, bumpers, axles from 1 7/8" to 3", logs from 8" to 13" including three wood Slater logs, car deadlift aparatus, 5 circus dumbells, steel blocks for press or loading, anchor chain, fingal fingers, farmers handles, yokes, frame, prowlers, tires from 400# to 800#, sandbags up to 300#, Stones from 30# to 510#, kegs from 80# to 560#, and 8 power stair implements from 215# to 450#, the only place I have heard that is better equipped is Brute Strength.

I knew that gym was awesome but I had no idea it was that amazing. I wish I lived up north so I could go there every fucking day.

I guess I mispoke, in this video Derek Poundstone says they go up to 265, “denim Dan” is our NAS state chairman Dan McCarron, he is a monster as is the owner Byron Hicks, both of whom are awesome guys.

PEAC in Ewing, NJ but switching to Hamilton Fitness Center in a couple days.

Buddy and I started a warehouse gym in Denver,CO. Iron Warrior Gym. Check it out and let me know any feedback-positive or negative would be greatly appreciated. Facebook - log in or sign up

West Valley Fitness in Yakima, WA. I sometimes also train in my garage. No cooling systems and recently its been over 90 degrees.

I train mostly in my garage. I have one rack which was custom built for my wife and I and largely resembles an eliteFTS rack (shipping to Canada was too much for that), a GHR, a prowler and a couple of specialty bars (SSB and trap bar).

I also lift occasionally at a gym near my work. Membership is only $25 a month so I keep it up to lift with my co-workers from time to time. The gym (Venice Fitness) is pretty crappy overall. Pretty typical gym, but the bars all pretty much suck and they don’t allow chalk. If I didn’t have my garage, I’d be looking for a different primary gym.

I’ve been there before; amazing fucking place. I hit a 30 lb. PR in the power room the one time that I went haha. The atmosphere there is awesome.

I just had to say, DAMN. I cannot imagine how brutal a 560lb keg is!

Train at Armbrust Pro Gym just west of Denver. Has just about everything you could want. TONS of GOOD equipment, mono, 2 platforms, bumpbers, good bars, good racks. We built our own shed in the back that holds all of our strongman stuff. To top it off the place has a great atmosphere.

Fuck I want to go to Jakked Hardcore now. It’s like 2 hours away. So close, yet so far.
