Gyms You Train At

Mine doesn’t, just a few big fans. Luckily I train at 6 am so it’s not bad. We have 3 racks, a monolift, a monolift with rack(forget the proper name), a competition bench, 2 regular benches, chest supported row, leg press, ghr, reverse hyper, hyper, db’s up to 140, chains, bands, tons of bars, stones, prowler, sleds, tires, kettlebells. If you can’t get strong here, you aren’t trying in my opinion.

It’s really a shame that something with such a history as gold’s gym has become so pathetic. The closest real gym to me is southside iron, which is an hour away. I really need to get there sometime just for the experience on a weekend or something.[/quote]

Our Gold’s lets us train in a 20x40 room that we converted from a storage area/loading dock. All the equipment was bought, donated or built by us. The majority of the commercial gym brotards stay away. I think the monolift confuses them in that they can’t seem to figure out how to curl in it

At my gold’s I sometimes get told to “settle down” when I’m deadlifting, because people are complaining about the noise. Building a home gym once I buy a house hopefully soon.

OMG COOL, it’s like we train at the same place!!

Muscleworks Gym in London UK. One of the few gym’s in the whole of London that has a power rack.

i train at the local ymca in erie pa. It’s normally not crowded and the staff doesn’t care about anything I do. It is air conditioned.

Brilliant old school gym

golds gym brooklyn park MD, or Exile Fitness Rosedale MD

All are in Pittsburgh area:

Celli’s Fitness - Lawrenceville: I am the longest-tenured member here. Been going since before they opened officially in 07. Great atmosphere, all the PL goodies you could hope for, no AC though.

Urban Active Fitness - Point Breeze: This place is 2 min from my office. Great machine selection, globo gym atmosphere. Surprisingly, the members at this place (for the most part) all look like they work out. I can’t say the same for Celli’s, which is about 50/50. This place has AC.

Home gym - Tarentum: My first order of business when I married my wife was to convert our one car garage into a gym. She hated the idea at first, but now she uses it more than I do. I only train here when I can’t make it to the other two places, usually on holidays or weekends. Obviously there is no AC.

my garage, Omaha, NE
Jobe’s Steel Jungle, Council Bluffs, IA

A NYSC in Brooklyn. Not the best place, but it’s cheap and I can get things done.
Been to some crossfit places around the area but they wouldn’t allow me to train alone.

Have you ever gone to Big Iron in Omaha? They’re friends of our group. There’s some extremely strong and experienced lifters there.

I’ll be up there in a month doing the APF / XPC Qualifier. Are you doing the meet?

No, I won’t be. I just did one June 30th and I may be out of town that weekend. My old unit is going to Afghanistan in 2 months and my Army buddies are coming home for leave before they go and that is tentatively the weekend we are meeting up. We are hosting another meet late october/early november between the XPC and WPC worlds and that’ll be my next meet. If I’m there I’ll be spotting/loading/handling our guys so I’ll see you. If I’m not, good luck!

Wichita Falls Athletic Center, Mark Rippetoe’s gym. Pretty interesting tid bits come out of Rip’s mouth on the daily!

Plenty of racks, weights, platforms, bumpers, and some decent odds and ends. Rarely crowded (never has been, actually) and way better than any commercial place I’ve been.

Will be adding a rack/platform and weights at my place soon to add to my variety and aid in convenience on busy days.

University rec center/ Golds Gym/ Shulas gym

RIP gym in Peoria, AZ. A garage, no AC, but we do have a monolift, EFS top of the line bench, GHR, and lots of different bars. Lots of fun in the summer in the desert heat.

LA Fitness, Chandler AZ. Typical commercial gym, AC.
