Gyms You Train At

Figured it would be kind of cool to say which gym you train at and where.

Strong Gym
Springfield, Mo

Quads Gym, Calumet City, IL. Charter Fitness, Orland Park, IL.

CS

Home gym, Wilmington IL.
Fitness Advantage (GetFit 24/7), Wilmington IL.

22nd St Barbell/Gold’s Gym
West Des Moines, IA

Gold’s gym
Whitehall PA
and Bethlehem PA

It’s really a shame that something with such a history as gold’s gym has become so pathetic. The closest real gym to me is southside iron, which is an hour away. I really need to get there sometime just for the experience on a weekend or something.

Our Gold’s lets us train in a 20x40 room that we converted from a storage area/loading dock. All the equipment was bought, donated or built by us. The majority of the commercial gym brotards stay away. I think the monolift confuses them in that they can’t seem to figure out how to curl in it

We have acquired: monolift, power rack, 2 comp benches, reverse hyper, ghr. Assorted bars (TX squat bar, TX power bar, 3 oly bars, 3 fat bars, 2 ssb, camber bar), farmers walk handles, assorted dumbbells, bands, chains, 2 prowlers, 2 drag sleds, DL platform, shit-ton of plates, 16" oscillating fan

There’s about 20 of us that comprise 22nd St Barbell.

Iron Pit Gym, Morrisville NC

In a room @ Apex Marble, a hot box.

Throwing a wrench in the thread:

Does your gym have air conditioning? For me, Quads does not, Charter Fitness does, though.

CS

My Basement Gym- two racks, multiple benches, bars, leg press, lat pulldown, 2000 + pds of plates. dumbbell pairs 30-100’s.

Grove City, OH

Westside and Lexen Extreme are both in my back yard but I’m not quite strong enough to get an invite from Louie or Dan.

Have you talked to Dan recently? If you’re really interested, send me a PM.

Train in my garage. One power rack, one bench, 2 standard olympic bars, 1 safety squat bar, 800 pounds of plates, 2 heavy dumbbell handles, 180 lbs of small olympic weights, a 35 year old triceps and lat pull down machine, and a hammer curl ez-curl bar, and a zercher harness. No air conditioning and it’s Florida so I have a sweat on before I lift. Life is good.
Best other gym I used to lift at was Orlando Barbell.

I’m assuming you met Brian Schwab, then?

CS

I train at Lexen Xtreme in Grove City, OH. There is air conditioning, but it’s not used very frequently.

EDIT:

2 monolifts, 2 competition benches, 1 power cage, about a billion pounds of weights, chains, bands, GHR, reverse hyper, back extension, belt squat, grip machine, lat pulldown, chest supported row, 1 deadlift platform w/ band pegs, 1 jump stretch deadlift platform and all kinds of weird contraptions that nobody knows what to do with. Also, any kind of bar you can ever imagine.

Thanks Frank. PM sent.

MAC family fitness, Milford ohio. 0 mono lifts, a bunch of machines, a bunch of old women, and awkward stairs when I deadlift heavy weights

Gym I go to does. Only helps when it’s 90+ outside. Otherwise the artificial cooling throws off my body temperature and I feel like I cool down too fast between sets.

Total Performance Sports, Everett, MA.

No AC but it really doesn’t matter, love the atmosphere and it
has all the equipment I will ever need.

Tournament Capital Centre, Kamloops, BC, Canada
will soon be packin up shop, and after almost 2 years be moving to Club Spych, a privately owned gym closer to my house. (TCC is a 45 minute drive away, sucks when youre 17 and your car gets 20 mpg TOPS)

Strive Performance Center, Calgary AB. I dont think there’s AC

My Basement, Calgary AB
No AC but it dosnt really get up to 90degrees here so not really a huge deal

Oxygen Hardline Gym, Fahaheel, Kuwait City, Kuwait.

Only one squat rack (A-frame type) but I seem to be the only person who uses it. Every conceivable free-weight machine from Hammer Strength, Edge, and Atlantis (including a Westside Barbell GHR) along with loads of cable machines; 12 benches (decline, flat and incline) and 4 smiths; separate dumbbell area with DBs up to 150#, and tons of benches including several exotic ones which I still haven’t figured out yet.

The gym is split up into areas - Shoulders, Chest, back and Legs with completely separate areas for cardio.

Also has it’s own cafe selling lifter-sized portions of rice, chicken, potatoes, protein shakes, etc. Oh, and it has it’s own supplement shop too. All air-conditioned. Also has a salon where you can get a massage (guy-on-guy of course) or a haircut.

Only gripes are that it’s a.) men only and b.) I wish it had a power rack or two.
