Does anyone have any experience with gyms in Harrisburg?
There is / was a gym called woodys down the street from the mall. Lifter friendly…I worked out there for years.
Sorry man. Come down to Lancaster and you’d have a nice Gold’s Gym. Very friendly to lifters. There’s probably one up there too but I cant say anything about it.
York (25 miles south) has three Gold’s. The one in Shrewsbury is brand new.
The one by the mall is closed. Sad cause that was by far the best gym in the area.
If you’re into the drive, go down to York and stop by the York Barbell museum (right off 83) and ask about gyms…

Damn really? When did that happen? Man I used to chalk up there, leave my bands, chains, etc. How long you work out there? I wish I knew that was happening. I’d have snatched up that reverse hyper and glute ham bench. They bought the glute ham bench at my request. Great gym.

i used to work there, actually. it’s not bad but they could find a better way to utilize all that extra space.
There’s also one in Harrisburg, so if you’re traveling you can use the one in Lancaster too. or Wyomissing. or York.
I appreciate the input. Does anyone live in York or Lancaster? I’m looking at both as possible places to live. How are they otherwise?
Lancaster. Good for me. There are plenty of gyms, I would almost say too many. Golds is the best for lifters though. Other than that we have a mall or two, tons of outlet stores. Usually the weather is pretty mild, although this winters been a bitch. I like it here.
There is another gyn in the Lancaster area that was very powerlifter friendly. The name escapes me. It might have actually been in New Holland?, though I’m not sure.
York is fine. There are plenty of nice homes for sale right off of the 83/30 split- so you will have plenty of choices. Don’t know much about Lancaster, other than the tourists (big Amish area) and outlets (lots of traffic). As I said in my earlier post, there are a few Gold’s in the area (all right off 83). There used to be a gym off of industrial ave, but that closed a few years back.
If you have specific questions, I might be able to help, just not sure what you are looking at (schools, bars, golf, etc.).
