Greg: How Do You Train?

Color Combinations

Why does everyone act like black on brown can’t work? That is what I have been trying to discuss the whole time here, if you would just let me. You’re too busy trying to play Dr. Phil and pin down my “ego,” when the scientific fact is that I make more money than you and am more muscular.

And yes, that is why GENETICS matter. Ronnie Coleman could simply wear a brown shirt and he already was pulling off a black and brown look. It took two layers for Dorian Yates to achieve that.

I see. So what advice would you give to someone just starting out in terms of ironing and store selection? I’m looking for specific temperatures and store recommendations to build a solid wardrobe.

Also, do you think that everyone has the potential to look really dapper or should some people just accept their genetic limitations?

I don’t think I’ll ever go the starch route: a lot of women say they aren’t attracted to guys that look too snappy although they always stare at the sharp crease in my jeans!

Your fashion progress in life is directly related to how intimate you become with removing that thing from your pants and sticking it in that slot repeatedly.

That sounded lovely, didn’t it?

In the distant past…some ancient long forgotten time around 1992, back when men wore one piece spandex and fanny packs to the mall and collectively said “Sweet Zumbas!!!”…back when New Kids on The Block shirts were actually being purchased by guys and girls alike…way back then, some flock of seagulls haircutted fashionista woke up from a nightmare about polyester suita and yelled, “YOU MUSNT DRESS LIKE NIRVANA!! NO MORE GRUNGE”.

This scream was heard around the world…and incidentally is what caused the demise of hyper color and overalls.

Enough history.

Here is FACT:

Fashion refers to how the body is viewed through the eyes of yourself, your peers and society.

“Swag” is the term the energy we have absorbed from trend setting fashion statements.

The rate of one’s swag fashion metabolism is measured in terms of “double takes” (energy) expended over a specified period of time by others checking out your new threads

The average adult typically takes between 24 and 72 minutes to get dressed daily.

It takes 6 to 8 hours for most people to realize that their outfit sucks.

A large waistline removes residual aesthetics from MOST physiques.

Baggy pants are worn by thugs and thugs only

A nice pair of fitted chinos can be worn for virtually any occasion

I will continue this later…

good post.

Too bad it will be ignored. Starch would never fit these kids’ “macros”

How many outfits can a non-starched dresser hope to pull off in his lifetime? And do you like to wear the same outfit twice in one week?

Seeing as some here clearly have issues with reading comprehension…here ae Cliff Notes to what was written:

I have worn 6 Outfits in a day.

I see a newb making wardrobe changes a CONSISTENT pattern is a major priority for success.

I now see many variables as having more say in how often one should change clothes.

No one wrote here that everyone should wear 6 outfits a day…

Regularly was not written to mean “often” but consistent.

…so those here to play word games, please exit the damn thread so an actual discussion can take place.

This needs to be stickied.

Sorry but I have to call BS on that one. That’s one outfit every three hours, and even if you do only sleep 3 hours per day as you claim I don’t see how you have the time or the energy for that much ironing.

I knew a guy in the neighbourhood I grew up in, the snazziest dresser I ever saw, and he swore by one outfit per day. The guy didn’t even iron! He just put his clothes under a mattress and left them there while he played basketball.

He did acknowledge the importance of quality accessories. The right ring or cravat can really brighten up an outfit over the course of the day.

??? How is this so hard to believe? I swear you shoot down anyone with a crisp outfit. It’s great that you can keep your shirts mostly wrinkle free by hanging them up first thing, but I am one with EXTREME wrinkle free goals.

Look, you have to see that I grew up around guys ironing multiple pieces a day. I only switched to dry cleaning until I got up to four pieces a day. I almost exclusively dry clean now…there is simply much less risk of burning an outfit. Dry cleaning is responsible for all my outfits over the last three years, so the ends justify the means, even if it makes me “metro.” Good luck with your “hanging wrinkle free pants right after they dry” approach. I don’t want to believe that you can get better results with far less hassle, so clearly your approach won’t work.

Is it true that your lackluster outfit in Colorado was due to the fact that your iron was damaged in an accident shortly before your trip?

I noticed that CT’s outfit wasn’t exactly wrinkle-free but nobody made mention of it.

Well, it was fun gentlemen.

Train hard and stay safe.

what the hell just happened here.

Lol! Greg, Diddy, and Browndisaster are doing their part to get this forum on track!

You’re dialing it in man, can we can a bit more specifics on the diet and how much/what kind of cardio you’re doing?
For sure.

Specifics on the diet:
-My goal is to consume 200-250 grams of protein a day. I try to get most, if not all, of that from food (not shakes)

-I try to keep my food choices to organic/natural/free range whenever possible… Except for beef.

-I have been gluten free for 7 months now.

-As far as supplements go I take a multi, fish oil, whey and an BCAA supp that I love for dropping fat.

-I have dabbled with IF’ing but it doesn’t fit with my current life schedule.

-I usually eat 2-3 big meals a day and have one protein shake and one BCAA shake a day. (BCAA is only on lifting days)

-My normal calorie range is from 2,500-2,800 a day without actively trying to restrict cals… I just don’t eat a ton all day. Just the 2-3 big meals.

-I like higher fats and lower carbs. I feel more satiated and satisfied from fattier foods.

Let me know if you want more info. I’m happy to share.
HOLY SHIT BALLS YOU’RE GLUTEN FREE??

How? I need to know. I didn’t think it was possible to get hyooge and be gluten free. I wanted to be ages ago, but I assumed I would shrivel up into a bag of bones if I stopped eating like I did.

Would you mind giving us a breakdown (as specific as possible [down to the brand]) of your diet? I would be so, ridiculously interested in hearing this.

Many thanks, good sir.

Maybe I am late here but as the most fashionably accomplished poster on this site I have to give my unsolicited advice.

First you guys are all doing it wrong. Dressing yourself fullbody is a waste. Sure you maye end up with an outfit, but the only way to be dapper to the EXTREME is to do wardrobe splits. There is just no way you can give your shirt the proper attention if you are picking out your pants at the same time.

Before you take my words out of context understand that CLOTHING CATEGORY SPLITS are the way that the PRO stylists put together outfits. All of them. I know because the Nordstroms I go to have tons of them there and we are all besties.

The split that worked best for me is:

Shoes/Belt/Watch
Shirt/Socks/Pocket Square
Trousers
Jacket/accessories

Notice how Trousers get their own split. I also skipped Underwear in the split because you do underwear EVERYDAY.

Fact: There is no way you can do a fullbody outfit without neglecting your accessories. PERIOD.

No PRO puts together their outfit all at once. Find me a cover of GQ and I’ll show you an outfit put together peice by peice everytime.

Before this turns into every other thread about NATTY or NOT remember that just because someone used a stylelist doesnt mean you would look as good as them if you did so dont even bring it up.

Ok back to serious time.

Yep, I am gluten free.

I wouldn’t say I am hyoooge at all but thanks

I am here to tell you that you definitely won’t shrivel up into a skinny fat hipster vegan douche just by going gluten free: let me show you the way.

IMO, a lot of people don’t really know what gluten free is. They think it is some crazy dietary restriction when in reality it isn’t. The basic life essentials that you can’t have are: Bread, Pasta and Beer… But don’t fret my young gluten free padawan, there are alternatives!

Bread: there are tons of options now for gluten free. I don’t eat gluten free bread very often but the store accessible brand that I’ve found to be best is Udi’s. Not to be confused with Rudis. Not the same. I get a DELICIOUS gluten free bread from our local farmers market which is awesome. If you have one in your area or a hippy market I would check that out.

Pasta: this ones a bummer for some but there are tastey rice noodles that you can substitute. Thai style noodles are rice noodles and do the trick.

Beer: this one was also a big time bummer. I enjoy a frosty cold adult beverage while watching football as much as the next guy so this one had me miffed. Guess what? Yep… There are alternatives. One that is carried in most grocery stores now is Red Brodge. It’s made by Aunheiser (sp?) and isn’t bad. If you have a BevMo or Whole Foods in your area you can pick up Omission. It comes in a few styles, lagar, IPA and one other one. It’s good. If you’re out and about and can’t help yourself you can always pick up a Corona. It is technically gluten free because the amount of gluten is well below the 200ppm guideline for GF classification. If you aren’t extremely sensitive you’ll be good to go.

For the most part my diet consists of rice, potatos and fruit for carbs.

Protein is steak, chicken, eggs and fish (no brainer here)

Fats are from the meat/eggs, avocados, VCO and fish oils.

Let me know of you have any other questions.

Gregron I just found out ur a wizard.
