Frantz Gym- Aurora, Illinois: OLD school. Basement has monolifts, dead platforms and competition benches. First floor has a shop with all the PL gear Frantz makes. Second floor has some ancient, awesome machines. The top floor is a boxing ring. The whole place is very old, dusty, and hardcore.

Frantz Gym is legendary, I train with some guys that spent time there. That gym used to be the place to train if you were a powerlifter. I’ve heard rumors that Ernie is talking about selling.

Do you train there?

LOL I wish I was a regular there. I probably train there 1-2 times a year while visiting family in Aurora. Last time I was there I met Ernie and he let me work in with his team. Probably my best PLing experience ever.

I really hope that whomever he sells it to keeps it the same. That place is THE epitome of PLing, in my opinion. It is the highlight of my visits.

Well if the next time you come to Aurora Ernies place isn’t around, you should drive about 10-15 minutes down the road and come to Jakked

I’m a wicked loser. I go to school at MGH Institute for Health Professions in Charlestown and I haven’t gone to TPS yet. Just like when I went to grad school at Ohio University and never made it to WSB.

Representing Ireland…

Hercules Gym in Dublin;
-2 ER comp racks and benches
-EliteFTS mono
-bands & chains
-3 Leoko competition powerbars
-several Ivanko bars
-a ton of Leoko calibrated comp plates
-Eleiko and Werksan competition bars and bumpers
-2 big ass lifting platforms
-'bells to 75kg/165lb (these got thrown up on an incline bench for reps today)

And then there’s all the normal cardio equipment you’d expect, a power rack, all the normal machines and stuff you’d find in any other gym too… Thousands of kg’s worth of plates, dumbbells and bars.

Oh and did I mention it is entirely owned by its members, run on a not for profit basis and any excess is spent on new equipment? And it’s only $40 a month, when most commerical gyms in Dublin are like $85ish!!!

Not to mention the lifters… Master life time drug free single ply lifter squatting 750 @ 220, 198 guy benching 575 in single ply gear… the list goes on.

Pretty sweet spot!!

I would put a shout out to The Press Gym in Little Canada, MN. Dan Stock has been a tremendous supporter of PL in MN. He runs a great gym.

That sounds like a plan. I’ll check it out even if I do lift at Ernie’s.
