Genetics have nothing to do with it?
Dorian Yates benched 315lb the first time he ever benched…when he was 16!!! yeah genetics have nothing to do with it,
WHAT A FUCKING BELL END!!!
Any proof ?? he looked pretty damn skinny when he was young…and I wouldnt say he had beasty genetics more like a great stack lol
You’re you saying Dorian Yates didn’t have beastly genetics? I’m now torn between who had the dumber post. You or the OP.
lol people are quick to throw insults on here. too sensitive. Yates looked like a skinny fuck…he worked harder than most bodybuilders who had way better genetics.
so being strong off the bat is NOT good genetics?? Who’s gonna have break it to all the wsm dudes that they are average joes in the genetic department?
So what exactly do you plan on doing to other shirtless dude in your avatar? And are we to conclude that you haven’t changed your pants in months?

My observations make it seem like you frequently spend nights alone, forever. Also, your avatar is to men beating on each other in spandex suits, but that’s straight right. nice ass spidey
cool story bro.
funny how people here are in denial
of course genetics play a role but most of these bbers looked maybe above-average in their teens. This topic is getting pushed so much by magazines to distract from the fact that these athletes are on an entire pharmacy of drugs, insane quantity of food and a life dedicated to muscles. so you are telling me they are some sort of bull/human hybrid or a genetic experiment.

first you said this^^
and then your very next sentence said this^^
does that mean you’re “too sensitive”?
OP,
dorian looks bigger than you before he even lifted weights. you’re doing it right. now plz go.

Also heard mike tyson benched 225 his first time.
Mike Tyson, incredibly driven with awesome coaching and support from a young age that unfortunately fell apart at around 22, which combined with likely steroid abuse, cocaine abuse, and repeated blows to the head, made for an unfortunate elixer.
No I am not saying MIKE TYSON IS ONLY SUCCESSFUL BECAUSE OF STEROIDS. But it is likely that at several points in his career he used them as a crutch.
Better then an actual crutch

Good, now you can join the cool club I guess? I talk for my own pleasure. Some people might benefit, but I don’t mind if you don’t.
Seriously dude, your genetics dictate/limit your max potential. Hardwork and suppliments allow you to reach that potential. I’m not a scientist but I did stay in a Holiday Inn Express.
But you don’t think that if you could eat, breath, inject, and dream getting bigger from 16 onwards, which many current pros have done since there is a talent pipeline in bodybuilding, you wouldn’t be bigger today?
By that logic, we would have 500lb pro’s stage ready.
Maybe we will one day, but that was not very good logic. Jay was scouted at 17 after being a farm boy till then. I don’t know other stories well enough to comment. I still maintain that there is nothing special about their genetics as much as the work and risks involved, that were overcome by those we now call pro’s.

…
I think PX agreed with me in principle? Point still is that genetics don’t make you gain 100-150 lbs of lean mass, obsession does.
Point is, you’re small. Now shut the fuck up.
thread was sort of entertaining though.

Yess, you can inherit your fathers broad shoulders, but without work they might never appear. Or, your fathers slender shoulders may become broad on you. Things like bone thickness have a certain amount of genetic coding in them, but also are strongly influenced by natural factors and experience. Troll thread? Nope, I just can’t post in the T-cell because there is a weight requirement and PX doesn’t like divergent opinions.
You do realize that people even with identical genes express different phenotypes, right? That identical twins have different traits (finger prints, facial structures, etc) despite having the exact same genetic code? What makes you think muscle mass is exempt from this?
There are so many genetic factors in bodybuilding and powerlifting they are beyond naming. Muscle fiber type distribution, natural levels of test/gh/thyroid/etc, muscle insertions, anthropometric variables, and so on…
The vast majority of the population is equipped to build a decent physique and beyond normal strength levels, and way too many people hide behind their “bad genetics”, but to say that we all have the same genetic potential is just delusional. We all can build admirable physiques… but very few people in the world have potential to be a future Mr. Olympia.
Beyond the typical, “how do you know until your try” response that would oh so suitably destroy whatever attempt at a response you just posted, and the reality that if you put a man on a galley ship, make him row 10 hours a day and feed him enough food (above slave levels, despite the slave labour) he will grow, whats your point? You are a man, not a preprogrammed robot who can’t exceed expectations.
You’re absolutely wrong. He’ll ADAPT, which is his genetic expression, or, he will become SICK and DIE and be thrown overboard, which is proof of genetic expression. Bad example.

Am I doing it rite?
