Hi, i’m a skinny noob, i have some questions if anyone can hep me.
Lately, i have been having near 2,300 calories per day with good ratio of protein fat carbs and all. (I am 5’ 9" and weigh 119 lb.) In the past week I have been steadily rising at about .2 pounds for day or a pound for week. All of a sudden, over night 2 days ago, I appeared actually significantly fatter and could feel it on my stomach. How does this happen over night and why isn’t it muscle.
You are working out too right? I mean you can’t expect to gain muscle just by eating more.

Could be water retention. Or fat. Are the foods you are eating clean? I mean it’s one thing to get your macros right, it’s another if you use a Big Mac to get there.
Given you are training the right way and dieting the right way I would say 0.5-1lb for every 1-2lbs of muscle. Just a guess. Given you’re a skinny guy you might be able to get away with this. Typically it’s 1:1.
2300 may be just right, you just need to make sure it’s all good food. I would probably push you up around 3000, but you might even gain more fat. Who knows?

How much fat should I be gaining with the muscle.
How many calories do you recommend in a day
Would cardio in the morning help w/ the fat[/quote]
1 over night ?? likely water
2 some depend on how sickly lean you are/were at 5’ 9" 119 friggin lbs. the body will want enough to feel like it has stores to survive your next self imposed fast prior to any muscle building. The bodies #1 goal survive prior to any excess LBM being made.
your gaining 1 lb a week your fine stay there or a bit higher increase when the scale stops moving intake is individual.
sure maybe muscle as well and if your gaining 1 lb a week it will make it so you need to up intake to keep that progress up.
