Fit For Wedding

Well guys I have taken the plunge and am engaged. We are looking at June of 2007. I have about 11 months to get to where I want to be. I am 6’2" 205 right now. I have a decent amount of muscle, but nothing to brag about. I started at 280 and have lost down to hear so I have a little extra skin too but what can ya do. What would you guys suggest? How should I tackle this next year.

Should I bulk for a while, should I try to gain and cut at the same time (i know I know). I dont care about numbers, just how I look in the mirror. If I start bulking now, will I have enough time to cut back down for the wedding? Just throw any input you have at me. Thanks!!!

Congrats Boss!

Why not do a clean bulk, to add LBM while minimising the fat gain?

Well, thats the plan, but my body REALLY likes to pack on fat. Its just how I am. If I dont have my diet dialed in perfectly, I will put on fat too. I guess if I want to do this, I should just suck it up, stop making excuses, and do it huh??? At 6’2" 205lbs, how many clean cals do you think I should take in per day?

boss man.

How long did it take for you to lose allthat weight.

Did you lose muscle with the fat?

We all know it is best to gain muscle or lose fat but not both at the same time.

It is possible to do both, but harder and you are going to be more effective either gaining or losing and not trying to do both at the same time.

It took me about 2 years to lose around 80 lbs. It was slow, but I did it the right way and it has stayed off. I now want to “put the icing on the cake” and finish what I started. I have a picture in my head of how I could look, its just how to get to that point that loses me. How much progress can I really make in a year???

Well, with 11 months, I’d suggest a clean bulk allowing minimal fat gain for about half that time. Then cut for the remaining 5 1/2-6 months. I doubt you’d need more than that to drop the fat you want.

Cool, thats probably what i’ll work on. Do you guys know what my cal intake should be. I am 6’2" 205, and lift 3 times a week and do light to moderate cardio 3 times a week. I know how some of you feel about cardio, but I love biking so I do it more for fun than anything.

It depends hugely on you, and how your body deals with food, but I’d guess on average, for a cleanish bulk at your weight/height, take in around 4.5K Cals a day. If you’re afraid that’s too much, start out at around 4,000 Cals, and see how it goes. 11 months may seem like very little time, but you can figure out what you should be eating within just 6-8 weeks.

I’m basing this mainly on me. At 5’10", 155, I needed 4,000 Cals to bulk, but I don’t put on fat easily.

During the wedding, you will have a tux or suit on all day. No one, save your wife, will be seeing underneath your clothing. How lean you are will not be nearly as important as how big you can build up your shoulders, traps, lats, creating a powerful look for the pictures.

Yeah thats true. I dont like to do iso lifts, but maybe I can just give a little more attention to getting that V shape. Tonight I did this. I lifted for about an hour, doing bench, 21’s, squats, bent over rows, shrugs, and some core work. But then, my roommate wanted to go on a bike ride so we went on a hour long easy bike ride just for kicks.

After the ride I ate a smoothy with 30 grams of whey, 1 cup orange juice, skim milk, and a little olive oil. Were my activities counter productive tonight. I have been working out for a few years, but I am not sure about the effect on cardio after lifting.

Cardio after lifting is a good time for it, but it will hinder muscle growth(but help with fat loss obviously).

Take a look at two programs by CT, The Power Look
The Superhero Workout

Both focus on looking great while dressed.

Congrats on finding some one worth the rest of you life!

I have heard good things about the superhero workout. Where can I find it. I have searched and am coming up with nothing.
